Anyone remember fit to win? The not so secret plan to offshore as much as possible which then became VGS? World class finance leadership had their team spending years moving around puzzle pieces when surprise surprise…VGS didn’t get the offshoring promised when more focused on pointless reorgs. And then mindless Vsp saved the day for the VGS failure. Yet leaders remain and revel in their inefficient, burnout, urgency culture of chaos.
Given the amount of restructuring recently, I doubt there are many major moves planned for this year. Minor ones maybe. The next big move will be integration of Frontier and associated fallout. Why would they restructure now, when there is a good chance they'll have to do it again in 2026.
What about people like spending seven out of eight hours of the day not working and posting on social media at the beach, party, wasted stupid?!?! Does anybody monitor anybody’s work these days? Why are we not truly evaluating who is doing the work and wants to do it rather than those that are taking advantage of it and getting promoted and all this money people that don’t need to be and giving people like this huge bonuses, freedom, stock and bragging rights? What a fail when you have great people that are dedicated and want to work and do great work all of the time.
Finance has been going through a best in class reorg for 15 years.
Any leader that spends more time doing interviews to 3rd party companies, and has excuses for not spending any time with their own grunt workers should be the first to go...
Finance needs a rif. Between shadow finance, fpas and finance - most time is spent arguing over which overlapping team should do what. The leaders who’ve spent decades power hoarding and bloating their teams should be the first to go. Many business leaders don’t even know who their full finance support is amongst the revolving door of chaos.
The organizational mess of finance reporting to operations, VGS and CFO is a disgrace and far from world class. Some have tyrant, workaholic leaders that crush their teams in the relentless pursuit for power and 100 page decks nobody reads. Others have smart, capable leaders that actually get things done without burning out their people. But no matter how good or bad the leaders are, there is no accountability as they all just reorganize again and have fancy kickoffs about how they are so energized and excited. Pathetic.
