Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

West CWA will be offered a buyout.

Watch how many people stay after listening to them say for years “ when I’m offered a buyout I’m gone “. Let’s be prepared for the excuses when the most senior employees don’t submit for it causing than junior union members to be let go instead.

About as ignorant as orange face and musk plan on the federal government.

I’m praying everyday for an offer. I hear one day they’re never going to offer an esb again and other times I hear call centers will be offered. What does everyone’s opinion

No early retirement incentives will be offered! T is figuring on utilizing existing craft employees until they retire on their own volition. There’s plenty of work for craft in certain area of the country! Techs just hang’n around waiting will be waiting a long time!

I am one of those 40 year union workers just hanging out at my easy job with good pay, benefits, continued growth in 401k and pension, just casually waiting for the inevitable incentive package that will eventually be offered to get rid of me and my likes.

I don’t make retirement plans based on how it affects a junior sn-t nosed far left ungrateful communist. Unless I intentionally decide to stay in hopes it costs you your job, home and college fund for your kids…

Greedy boomers have changed a lot of things for younger generations.

No. What changed is, AT&T ceased to be a monopoly, and so, the benefits whose costs could be passed onto the customer can no longer be so passed. So, to compete, AT&T had to reign in benefits. And getting rid of the copper plant is going to cost.

Rumors are Leg T union will be phased out end of this year also which will coincide with the 20th anniversary of SBC buying at&t (11/2005). Employees will have the option to leave or move to another union similar to what happened this year to Dist 9 service reps. Company will bank on most leaving since most are retirement eligible. Leg T union has no power anymore with under 2,000 members so it is a disservice that the upper CWA leaders try to keep it going just so they continue to get a paycheck for doing nothing.

Probably some truth in this. Seriously folks, check what your month retirement income will be, call the advisor at fidelity, then add in that SSI payment. You might find you are losing money by continuing to work or you are working for a couple hundred a month. Most have no clue what their monthly retirement income looks like. I have nothing but respect for older workers, sometimes you need that push to look into the numbers. I’d prefer people enjoy themselves as they have earned it instead of sticking around this place.

Go ahead and blame your pathetic life on the Baby Boomers! Try managing your own destiny and quit relying on ATT to do it for you! Grow up, take charge of your life cuz you're not my responsibility!!

I wonder if the cost of living is so high they can’t save for retirement on union wages?
