Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Collaborated at the coffee machine today

Found out the H1B’s and TDP’s are only doing 3 days a week. Honestly feels like I’m being targeted by having to do 5.

Then I looked around the cafeteria today and couldn’t find a person who looked under 60. You people look terrible and decrepit. A bunch of grandma and grandpas. Literally hear them talking about their grandkids. Just retire already.

"Please stop the RTO discussion. Mr. Stankey wants us in the office five days a week. Eight hours a day plus your lunch hour. Done deal."

Yes, Mrs. Stankey, that's what your husband wants but as you know better than anyone, what he wants isn't what he gets. 🤣

“ For example, look at Dolly Partin. She looks younger and better than most (if not all) 30 somethings. Age is just a number.”

You need a trip to the ophthalmologist asap! That old skallywag bat not only looks 70+, but also as fake as a $3 bill!

Don't be fooled by how people look here as I know some 40 year olds who look 60 and a woman in my group I found was out was in her sixties and looks like she is 40. You may be surprised.

What is a TDP employee??

"The program offered a chance to explore the company's diverse sectors through a rotational system..."
"Our TDP program spans two to three years, providing the perfect timeframe for the participants to unravel the complexities of the industry, build a solid foundation of knowledge, and evolve into future industry leaders."

I hate to break it to you, but I am pretty sure the H1Bs are not "contractors." They are employees. At least that is true of the ones I have encountered. Stankey likes his indentured servants right there on the payroll. He probably keeps their passports in a cigar box on his desk.

Was this with your work wife or work husband?

Maybe if you meet the management rule of 75 you get your money the f out of there so you don’t have to worry about you stupid entitled little brats. . You aren’t making any of us old people anything you id--t. Give people a break. How old are your parents? I’m sure you make them proud. We worked for what we get, unlike you who thinks it’s entitled. So done, if I was your mom I’d slap you!

I am currently a TDP and we do not have to RTO 5 days. The rule is 3 days still. Atleast where I am.

And yes, pretty much everyone is actively trying to leave.

“ Just because they are of AT&T not employees does not mean they cannot set policy for the contractors“

Sure, maybe.

Why is it so important to you?

We need even more people to compete with for parking and desks?

"They’re not employees of this company. Why is that so difficult for you?"

Just because they are of AT&T not employees does not mean they cannot set policy for the contractors. Companies set policies all the time for contractors. I have negotiated it the agreements we have with the contracting companies.

"Not 5x9, lunch hour is unpaid"

Lunch hour is paid when you collaborate. 8 and skate, it can wait. Be careful what you ask for!

Why not older younger retire and make space for the kuds who will do the work and make sure you guys will get pension regularly

I think your poorly written attempt at a jab answers itself. I suggest Grammarly if you're unable to independently form coherent sentences.

“ The H1B contractors can work where they please.“

Again with this same clown OBSESSED with H1Bs and the fact that contractors don’t have to go by the same rules as employees.

They’re not employees of this company. Why is that so difficult for you?

Maybe AT&T should make it easier for people to retire by NOT reducing pension funding and eliminating Healthcare for retirees

They are probably sticking around to collect their pension which is probably something you won’t get. Grow up.

Lot of misinformation going around. I work with H1B employees/contractors and American contractors. They all have to RTO 5 days a week, 8 hours a day. I am ex TDP and still socialize with TDPs, they all have to RTO 5 days a week, 8 hours a day too. Although I do notice TDPs care less about adhering to the rules, which is why you probably see less of them. Most don’t care about getting laid off and are actively interviewing with other companies.

I spoke to what I presume was an H1B fellow in one of the Dallas offices. Indian accent and name I would struggle to pronounce. Nice guy and knew what he was doing, but he did mention they were still doing 3 days a week. That sounds awfully actionable, doesn't it, employment-lawyers-directed-here-by-Google?

In my 40’s and I’m probably one of the youngest people on my floor. Yes certain groups don’t have to 5x8. The peanut butter is definitely not spread evenly.

In my organization, only the employees have to RTO. The H1B contractors can work where they please.
