I came to the realization that I’d like to be RIFd. If I’m at this point, it is because of all the dysfunction and stress and it’s not worth it. I’d like the severance to be able to look for another job without having financial deficits. If I’m not RIFd, I’m going to start looking elsewhere. It’s not worth it.

You are not alone. The annual layoffs have worn thin. It's too stressful. It sucks the joy out of life knowing that every year there are going to be layoffs. Well it's happened every year I've been working here so the last seven years that I'm aware of. This isn't what I signed up for.
I need a newer automobile but I'm afraid to buy anything other than absolute necessities because I don't know if I'll have a job in a few weeks. Yes, I know there's a package and for that I'm grateful but honestly, who thinks these annual layoffs are good for morale? Who thinks this is the proper way to run a company? It's ridiculous that this EXTREMELY PROFITABLE company is eliminating jobs and requiring people to do the work of two or more people simply to increase the profit margins. Yes, I understand it is a for profit company but really, when is enough enough? When do all the layoffs just go beyond what is tolerable for the average person? Have they looked at executive level benefits? Have they looked at the philanthropic spending? You can't boast about your corporate philanthropy one day and turn around and destroy the lives of your employees needlessly the next.
Let us not forget the name of the company HUMANa.
This post is pathetic. Go find another job instead of riding the clock and looking for handouts.
I completely understand how you feel….
Good for you. It’s so much better here outside of Humana’s walks. Good luck!
you are not alone
