Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Internal Interview

Over the last few months, I've advanced to the final interview round for ~5 different positions. I've received post interview feedback from each hiring leader, and they all say the same thing: I have made the decision to move forward with an internal candidate within my current team. What is the purpose of posting the job reqs if the hiring manager has pre-selected the candidate? Has anyone else encountered this lately?

If you're reading this, I hope something good happens to you today!

Sounds like you’re probably bad internal reference keeping you from progressing to a final job offer. The last part of the internal job offer is an email requesting a reference from the hiring manager to whoever you currently report to.

It's absolutely disgusting to trap people in departments that are like a bad sorority. There is a AD and a manager under her that need to be investigated.

HR is not there for you. They are there solely to protect company interest at all cost. Retired after 9 years. Had a great manager for a few years that eventually left for an AD position for UM. The caveat is that she never worked a day in UM in her life but got the position anyway. Next came a nurse from Transitions when her job ended. She was moved over to manage a dialer team although she never placed a dialer call in her life! Someone thought she was the better candidate....I'm guessing it was HR. There's no such thing as fair at Humana. After working 15 years in very busy trauma centers I think the worst PTSD for me were the 9 years of trying to better myself at Humana! Get out while you can. There's life after Humana and you will never ever be acknowledged or appreciated for your dedication or compensated for it either!

Being a place where am hiring people, this is due to a pathetic HR process. there is an associate who has been with humana for 25 years and a similar role who is just 5 years experienced gets paid 50% more. I have no way to get them upto par.. the interesting thing is, its easy to open a new position and hire this experienced candiate and match the pay graded instead of getting him a raise. this is just one example.. its a pain. not necessarily a Manager issue.

Humana was an absolutely demoralizing experience at the end for me. The degree of favoritism, ageism, nepotism and outright discrimination in clinical operations (LS) shop was disgustingly traumatizing and frankly illegal. It will take me years to get over it, but I’m putting it all behind me.

Are managers notified when you have an interview? Can they stop you from getting a role?

This happens all the time, and it’s not new. Getting ahead at Humana is more about popularity and youth than merit.

HR!?? You must be joking. That's not even close to an option for any workplace issues at the big h. Sorry to have to say it but it's true.

Better that than the dept head blocking every interview because they can't keep staff and don't want to replace the ones who know how to do the job! So much for growth! Recruiters know about it and they need to report it forward to HR.

It took me 3 years of applying to various roles to move to another position. I was told one posting had 400 applicants. It seems to be the norm for this to happen unfortunately!

I remember it being like this in the hospital sector as well, nothing new

Encountered exactly this for 18 months before I departed in January. Applied to 50 plus jobs, interviewed for roughly 10-12, and was never selected. Always the bridesmaid, never the bride! Too much nepotism, ageism and favoritism for decent high performers to get ahead.

I’ve encountered this before. My understanding is that per HR if there is an opening, management has to post the req. for at least 3 days. If there are applicants , interviews need to take place. Waste of time I know but technically keeps it “fair”.
