I feel like I’m on the verge of breaking. The stress is piling up, and I know I need a mental health break, but the thought of bringing it up terrifies me. I can’t afford to lose my job, and I’m scared that if I even mention it, I’ll be brushed off, labeled as weak, or quietly added to the next round of layoffs. I don’t know what to do. Has anyone been in this situation before? How did it go? I’m desperate for advice.

Just so you know that if you get a doctor's note for FMLA or std or whatever accommodation through LOA, which is a third party service, your manager and HR will still discuss about it in open space on the phone so everyone in the office would know about it.
I've had several conversations with colleagues who are feeling the same. More folks are saying they're going to start taking mental health days, and a couple are waiting their FMLA be approved/processed. I've witnessed and heard about people becoming snappy and agitated. Fiserv is truly a hostile workplace now, brought on by the spying and unnecessary in office demands.
I’m sorry to hear this, if you work in an area where you fear that going to your boss will make you look weak you are in the wrong position. Being open and honest with your immediate supervisor shouldn’t be scary. Now as a front line supervisor I will say there is very little we can do other than analyze workloads and lend an ear. As stated FMLA is protected but unpaid and that shouldn’t be used as a cause for termination down the road but some leaders may try to. Good luck to you stress and anxiety lead to burnout and no job is worth that.
If you have worked at Fiserv full-time for a year, you are eligible for FMLA. While on FMLA, you can also utilize Short-Term Disability, which will pay you 100% of your wages for up to 9 weeks and then 60% of your wages for the weeks after that. Your doctor will need to fill out paperwork. You do not need to talk to your manager about taking this leave. Your manager does not decide your eligibility. You’ll do it through our company’s leave admin, Alight. All of this info is also available on FUEL.
FMLA is the quickest way to get laid off. Happened to me. Same type of mental health issue.
Contact the EAP, they will put you in touch with a mental health professional. Start there. FMLA is unpaid leave.
If you need a few months break, go on FMLA. If you need R&R time for a week, use your "unlimited" 🙄 R&R time.... Do note, however, that even though R&R is automatically approved, approval is still at the "discretion" of your manager. 🙄🙄.... So yea, take the FMLA.
The only way you can protect yourself in the states is getting a doctor's note and taking FMLA.
And even that gets you a finite time for continuous leave or intermittent leave.
You are better off looking for a new job. It takes time but you can ultimately get to a better place.
Take R&R or wellness time , you do not have to provide a reason
