I was impacted but was not part of the VSP offer. Since then, I have applied for a few positions with VZ - those of which my skill set aligns with, however, have not even been given the opportunity to interview. Just the standard response, thanks but we are moving forward with candidates whose skill set more closely aligns with what we are looking for. So, this is not a post to complain about that (although it may seem like that) but rather, has anyone experienced this as well and do you feel like the company has no desire to rehire those people (non VSP) that were impacted?

I experienced the same thing. 20 yrs with vzw laid off w) severance 1yr ago. Finally got an interview & an offer letter. The pre-screen employment group.came back with crazy questions when doing my back ground check... Like: what was the last company u worked for, you r education section doesn't match... What???? One of my former coworkers had an interview & the interviewer didn't show up! I would think hiring an experienced former employee would be a win, but I guess not!
Sorry to say but a s a former AD who took the VSP... Happy I did... When you resume comes across it has "RIF" we were told not to even look at them... Good luck
OP which severance did you take…standard or enhanced? If enhanced, you aren’t eligible for rehire. Either way, do yourself the favor and move on to something else. You’ll be glad you did.
cutie...this is a chinese company..it is run by the chinese owned by the chinesee.. you don't have a hope unless you got some chinese blood. You can be ok if you like dim sum. That is always good. this company has the absoulte lowest customer base. nobay buys viroxn unless theyp want connection in their cell all the time. People don't even use their cell alll that much. gonna be fun if you look into the other celurar companies. Nobody uses their cell alll the time anymore.. Just isn't that important. Just is the breaker in life stuff. Nowdays life stuff is more watched for. So let verisozon go. Just let it go
Even though you weren't part of the VSP you should be receiving the enhanced severance (assuming will be leaving before end of March). My advice would be take the $$ and run. Although the job market is tough, you will probably have better luck on the outside.
The company is on a mad dash to save money anywhere it can. It needs to look at the higher ups and it will find plenty of fat to trim. It decided to do it on the point of sale systems also, which rarely show the correct price. It amazes me a computer that can't do basic math due to poor programming. All due to verizon wanting to save money. It's smarter for a customer to just get their phone from apple and not raise their plan price by 25 bucks. And get the bring your own device discount. But for your position you were probably making too much money for their liking. We have a very bad structure in place right now.
