Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

district 6 contract

new contract negotiations pending as union employees we are not going to see any layoffs first quarter or second maybe, but what about after we negotiate a contract?
anyone have any real information for craft?
I know the evil empire can do what they want and layoff at will with management and Rto I am sorry if your management, but us craft people have some protection at least.
I and R I think is done, they may get moved in to appendix J or some new clause,
Specials I hear is very slow right now,
Deg is bare bones and have been combined in some areas with the CO group,
C and E it seems is the only group growing, we just got a few guys from I and R transfer over.
Any real information please share

Keep saving in case of a strike, a lot of us in D3 enjoyed our time off after so many years of working weekends and forced OT. The earlier post about wage increases and basically status quo with a few improvements is probably true, if not then strike. I don’t think your district will have to strike since the company got the message from D3, we won’t be bullied into bad policies like the managers below the c-suite. We have your back if they do, nobody is asking for anything unreasonable, fair wages with decent benefits and no givebacks. A company with 16-17 Billion of free cash flow and a CEO making 22 million plus can afford treating the occupational workforce fairly. Time for the elite enriching themselves at the expense of the middle class to stop.

District 6 will get 20 to 22% raises over 4 to 5 years with 5% up front. Probably a $500 or $1000 signing bonus. Modest increases to healthcare. 1% pension bump. Most of the contract and job security language will stay the same including severance. These are predictions based on district 3’s recently signed contract and past history over the last several contracts. Once it’s signed there could be layoffs for non union to pay the extra expense of the new more expensive contract. The company is looking hard to cut expenses so if you’re not a hands on employee you can be outsourced. Of course this is all just my opinion but watch and see. With all the uncertainty we always get a decent contract that’s good for both sides in some ways. If your Stankey ,asking $25m it’s less risky to keep the billions flowing in and keep the status quo. We’re profitable and that’s why you see layoffs happening slowly and measured so as not to affect revenue.

Any news for district 7 on layoffs? Seems to be slow, not enough work for the number of technicians! We are working only around 15-20 hours per week because of the lack of orders coming our way...what happened to the work?

Word on the street is that one or more of AT&t's unions can't allow its members to go on strike because they don't have the money in the coffers to payouts to members.

Negotiate the he-l out of health care and severance. The severance should include health care at company cost. You are not fighting to continue working at AT&T. You are fighting for what happens after they get rid of you . . . and they are going to get rid of you.
