Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Stock price closes at 68.68

Just last week the stock had some bounce in its step. Hit 78 on 2.4. Now it’s dropped 10 points. Options underwater. ESPP no longer attractive even with a discount. 401k’s. How do you keep talent, let alone recruit talent when the value of the stock continues to crater? With every rebound, there seems to be a corresponding drop.

@ea+1jkh6hkmn I wouldn’t say Nikes clothing is more expensive than other brands. Depends what brands you want to compare to.

On seems to have a much higher pricepoint and be stealing market share, so I don’t think it has anything to do with cost , but more to do with desirability

"Sure brand isn’t as amazing as it once was, but still plenty of qualified people looking for work in this market"

the market and the economy are in the toilet
so if Nike clothing is expensive compared to other brands
don't expect a lot of people to buy it
debt/GDP ratio is roughly 130%, higher than at WW2's time

The same people who choose to spend their PSP on a new Audi Q5 in August are the same people who will tell you not to buy ESPP when Nike stock is a lows. I would buy the sh-t out of ESPP now.

Options are underwater for all folks with options. And that’s a lot of non VP’s. It’s in everyone’s interest company performs better - the decline in wealth must be mind boggling for everyone.

Misleading - ESPP will give you shares at the lowest price in that period -15%. At today’s price of 68.68, your purchase price will be roughly 58.00. You can sell immediately (you will pay short term capital gain taxes) or keep. 58 a share is a bargain.

So many people need jobs who’re willing to take steps down to come to Nike. Sh-t Estée Lauder is laying off 7k people.

No need to motivate and retain talent when talent is chomping at the bit and willing to work twice as hard for less to get a job somewhere like Nike.

Sure brand isn’t as amazing as it once was, but still plenty of qualified people looking for work in this market

EH has to make BIG changes to his surrounding cast. It’s been four months since he’s been appointed and nothing but crickets. Shareholders are losing faith.

Things will need to get worse before they get better. Especially our financials.

the stock market is not connected to reality

unless there is some huge issue or problem that just came up, stock values should not jump around
