"For all my techs on here everyday trolling the RTO posts: imagine showing up every morning for your job (yes yours requires you to physically be there, our doesn’t but I digress) and trucks are first come first serve, not enough for everyone, you have to bring your own tools and supplies, so no truck for you today, got to go sit in the corner or the floor and do your 8, no you can’t drive your personal truck (wfh). That’s what it’s like. Is it really about improving efficiency or just cutting heads?"

I would start a Union campaign with and for my brother's and sisters! Good luck with the rest of your life, hope you do not RTO!!

Housing rules limit occupants per bedroom. Employers need a similar rule for toilets.
Fight back RTO with p-o !

You’re employed at the pleasure of your employer. If you can’t see that, you’re stupid.

AT&T has every right to require that you do the bare minimum by showing up to work. If you choose to violate company policy, then you will be fired.

You can't be serious. You're crying because your employer wants you to show up for work? That is literally the most basic part of having a job.

It is an unlawful age (and probably gender) discriminatory constructive dismissal action. If it were a layoff you would get severance and unemployment. They are trying to get out of that, while trying to get rid of older employees. Legally speaking, if the results show discriminatory outcomes, then it is discrimination regardless of stated intent. This is a pretty clear case.

No it is not. It’s a requirement to get to work from the biggest boss.

RTO is a VOLUNTARY layoff.

It's a 'pick-your-poison' job reduction strategy. It's like being told you're going to die. You're going to die not matter what, but you can either try a course that will prolong your life, but at a lower quality of living (follow the job), or refuse treatment and die a little sooner, but on your own terms (choosing not to follow the job). Either makes no difference to the doctor (company)--they want you off of their schedule either to send you along with some course that will have you back later or never.

If you have only just been struck with this epiphany, then you are the one who is stupid.

Stupid Post. RTO is a corporate initiative. Now we must go to the office five days a week at a minimum 8 hours a day. This does not include commuting. Let’s quit talking about this. It is done and over with for discussion. The decision has been made.

“OP is wrong. Plus why would any company need to "disguise" layoffs? They can let you go anytime they want”

Bro, use ur brain. They lay us off, we get severance. We leave cause we hate 5 days in office it costs them nothing.

Educate yourself before talking outta your a$$.

It's disguised as a collaboration plea internally so d-mb employees don't understand it's really a layoff. On Wall Street, our folks are 100% celebrating this as a layoff. Helps the stock go up.

Why is the company called AT&T? Shouldn't it be TT&A? That would make more sense
