DEl was always illegal
Imagine working for a corporation that has a long standing history of discrimination.
Yup, that's our company. One big stupid racist corporate mess. Our leaders are so stupid they don't understand that everyone should be treated equally and all business decisions should always be based on merit.
You should never ever take a persons skin color or s-x into account.
But this is common sense, and we all know it's not so common these days.
If anyone deserves a criminal
investigation into its DEl practices it AT&T.
It's no wonder we're worth half of what we were. The result of DEl failures.

Instead of whining about DEI, pick up a book and make yourself actually qualified to earn your salary.
Reality check #1: Diversity hires are a myth. Always have been. Your Indian coworker is taking your job because they are willing to take on your work for a fraction of what you cost.
Reality check #2: You are not special in the eyes of the company. They see your Indian coworker's output and quality of work is equivalent to yours. Doesn't matter how long you've been employed or what education you have.
Reality check #3: Tenure is not job security. The longer you stay at the company, the worse it looks.
Yes, it means you're less marketable as an individual. If you're upset by this, take the "but I'm not a blue collar worker" rod out of your a-s, fight for your rights, and form a tech union.
Is being America First mean we become a Hate & Cruel First Nation? Horrible!!
depends what you are calling dei?
DEI will make AT&T great again.
“Spent 26 years at T and never, or would never hire a person that wasn’t qualified. If you’re hired and you failed, then you get the door. No matter your color or s-x. It should always be performance based. DEI is about wearing a mask and blinders. If you hire a DEI’er GFL.”
We’re finishing up the plaque celebrating YOU and plan to mount it somewhere (not sure yet).
Unfortunately, the plaque maker was hired on his merits (he knew I guy just like him) so the plaque looks like a pile of sh1t 💩. Oh wait, he was a good hire after all - he got the likeness of you just right.
“nothing worse than cache clearers upvoting themselves over and over.”
Oh, there’s a lot worse. Do you read the cr*p on this forum??

Why don't more people call out a nepotism hire, a hire because you look and act like me. Those are the hires we should get upset with

“It started in the 1960's with EEOC.
Cannot count the number of time I was discriminated against because I was a "white" male.”
Can you look at yourself in the mirror and keep a straight face? To claim that white male discrimination is the big problem we have to solve for is friggin’ amazing.
Just amazing.
“There’s some serious cognitive dissonance occurring on this thread. Anyone with a modicum of intelligence knows “equality” is a bogus construct. We are NOT all ‘the same’…especially in IQ, talents, etc……”
You’re pointing to a fairy tale so your comment about cognitive dissonance is spot on. Therefore, you won’t or don’t want to understand this:
There is and never was a meritocracy. It’s a fallacy. Pure objective measures just don’t exist. Subjectivity is too pervasively used in place of merit. DEI is not to artificially prop up anyone but rather to halt or minimize qualified candidates from being overlooked due to things beyond merit (e.g., race, age, gender, etc.).
So I guess we go back to the way things were done in the 1800s. I guess that’s making America Great Again
It started in the 1960's with EEOC.
Cannot count the number of time I was discriminated against because I was a "white" male.
I worked for 1 yr as a temp and then told I had to take the employment test to stay. I have 2 engineering degrees and caught a AA trying to cheat off me. Another time, I was told that I was about to be promoted to District only to find out that Little Al from St.L. promoted his mistress because she wanted him to divorce his wife and marry her.
She got moved, promoted and a big raise - her skill besides servicing a VP was reading the Morning News for hours & shopping at Neiman Marcus.
There’s some serious cognitive dissonance occurring on this thread. Anyone with a modicum of intelligence knows “equality” is a bogus construct. We are NOT all ‘the same’…especially in IQ, talents, etc. Artificially propping those up who cannot meet the mark is outright cultural Marxism. Meritocracy “should be” the standard & demographics should never be included in hiring, firing or promotions.
“Why would you want to innovate or improve things for your employer if the end result has been predetermined based upon your race, gender, orientation, etc?”
Do you believe in systemic racism?
Which part do people not like? The Diversity, the Equity, or the Inclusion?
Equity- it's become a code word for equality of outcome. Why would you want to innovate or improve things for your employer if the end result has been predetermined based upon your race, gender, orientation, etc?
DEI is dead in America!
“Equity is not equality and equity is discrimination. Period.”
You’re so hung up on the word itself but deflect the spirit of what you responded to.
Just be honest and admit you’re not supportive of equality either (demonstrated by your actions, words, and beliefs). You hide behind your perceived issues with equity and ignore the fact that before DEI it wasn’t a level playing field for non-whites. DEI was an attempt to level it.
Therefore, you are a racist. Period.

You are clearly conflating equality and equity. They're two different words with two completely different meanings, but let me show you how you attempted to influence others to accept your ignorance.
First you say,
"The opposition to DEl is part of a broader effort to dismantle systems designed to foster racial equity"
Then you say,
" DEI aims to promote equality and fairness by addressing historical disparities and biases faced by marginalized groups."
You were right the first time and wrong the second.
Equity is not equality and equity is discrimination. Period.

The opposition to DEI is part of a broader effort to dismantle systems designed to foster racial equity and progress because it will undermine their perceived dominance in the workplace
People with negative racial attitudes are more likely to oppose DEI training. Their racism is a driving factor behind the opposition to DEI.
Those who oppose DEI based on racist beliefs are wrong because they misunderstand the purpose of DEI programs. DEI aims to promote equality and fairness by addressing historical disparities and biases faced by marginalized groups. By opposing DEI, these individuals may be perpetuating systemic inequalities and hindering progress towards a more inclusive society.
I’ve heard first hand the prioritization of “diverse vendors” over others to the point it made my jaw drop. I’ve heard “diverse new hires” getting prioritized as well when skills were like for like.
Anyone who tells you this wasn’t what DEI was for or what it was doing is an absolute liar.
And that’s above and beyond the team meeting where we were forced to have an open and uncomfortably weird discussion about what diversity is and how bad it is to judge someone on it. Weirdest moment in my entire career.
It’s been 24 hrs since the Attorney General’s orders.
Has AT&T made a statement on their discriminatory DEI practices and what they plan to do to change in accordance with the kaw?
Molly, you in danger girl.
Best part is they all touted their discrimination with videos of themselves promoting it. Literally created content of themselves saying they would prioritize peoples skin color and s-x and s-xual preferences.
Has a whole new look when the Attorney General of the US Department of Justice comes out swinging announcing corporations will be criminally investigated for DEI practices. Well Pam they made it easy for you. Slam dunk case.
The mayonnaise has gone sour
“It's lonely old white people pretending they're victims again”
The racists are so est to identify. They come right out and say it. “White people” huh? It’s amazing how stupid some people can be. You’d think they could understand where racism comes from. Hint, it’s from treating people differently based on their skin color.
You’re a bigot and a racist and you’re someone who should know better, but you’re just not smart enough to figure it out.
“ I dream that one day my daughters will be judged by their character and NOT by the color of their skin.”
Sorry mama, you’re daughters will be judged on their ability to make straight white men, it’s Trump’s America not ours.
It's lonely old white people pretending they're victims again
“Don't you people ever tired of posting the same thing everyday? It's like same handful people posting about the same three topics day after day.”
Do you get tired of being a racist?
No I won’t accept discrimination.
I will always stand against racism.
I was taught that we are all equal.
That skin color should never matter.
I dream that one day my daughters will be judged by their character and NOT by the color of their skin.
I’m an American and these are our values.
