Our org's SVP was nice enough to let us know, during his EOY meeting, that there will be fewer of us still working at T in 2025 than there were in 2024. So the surpluses are coming. Just curious what the likelihood of a severance package would be and if they are generally tied to a person's years at T or years of age, or anything else?

There is no "package" per se. If you are management, you get a severance payment based on YOS up to 6 mos worth of pay; there are no additional benefits that would constitute a "package." If you are separated, you will receive any info from HR about the transition and paperwork, programs for which you would be eligible.
If you are craft, your severance is outlined by your district contract. If you don't know what that it, as your local steward.
the only package you're going to get, is a package to ship your laptop back in

having "nice" leaders that tell us about layoffs pretty much sums up how awful working at T is.
If you are asking it will be very soon.
How can you work here and ask such silly questions.
Layoffs are pretty much a daily occurrence.
I hope T will re-think their position on severance and get on the severance package band wagon! Time for T to offer those that would prefer to leave an opportunity to leave with dignity and willingness and not resentment!
“Layoffs are always coming. It just depends on when your org is on the clock!”
Queue up that ol’ song “Rock Around the Clock” daddio!
Huh?
If you’re surplussed - you get severance.
How do you not know that?
Don't give severance, give us stock.
trump is giving federal workers get 8 months of severance
verizon three weeks of base pay for each year of service, up to a maximum of 60 weeks approximately $354,000 to $396,000 per employee
The agony will continue throughout 2025. They will continue to nickle and dime us. No large layoffs in one fell swoop. It would be much more humane to cut 40K in one big layoff. I guess they don't want any negative publicity.
You must be new here. It’s always layoffs all the time in every org. Every 6 months there’s a layoff.
Layoffs are always coming. It just depends on when your org is on the clock! All severance info is in HROnestop, much better resource than an online forum full of nonsense.
Last one in, first one out.
Seriously, your manager is the only one who can answer this question.
All surpluses get severance + unemployment. If you get fired you may still qualify for unemployment. If they convince you to quit by making you miserable you get nothing.
