Getting laid off this year so I applied for a part-time job to work during my 60-day non-working notice and severance, while I job hunt. I submitted the position for pre-clearance approval and was met with the response that pre-clearance approval isn’t required. Should I be wary of that?

Depending on the state you live in, a part time job can negate any unemployment benefits you might otherwise be eligible for once your severance ends.
Should not be a problem. PT work is allowed during the notice period
If I am reading your post correctly, you want to get a P/T job now, before you get laid off, right? So you would already have that job before you are in the 60-day period?
Seems logical to me. WF can't punish you for another job you had before you got laid off.
You can’t accept a part-time during your 60 day non working notice. It will void your severance. Push your start date out until after your 60 day non working notice. You pry got pre-clearance approval because it’s not a conflict of interest but it will void your severance.
