Not saying you’ll earn the same, but if you’re looking for healthcare benefits and ok with less income until you can retire. 62,500 is not that bad.

Pretty easy to see why some people are choosing to move.
I make $248k as L3 in DLLS.
Just sit here looking out the window towards the Magnolia Speed Demon.
I know Principals who have been with the company 30 years who do not make 200k. (Been Principal for several years.) I think a lot depends on where you live. District 3 (i.e. the South) people make a lot less than other areas.
Whole point being that a Principal making 200k is not the average employee best served by this site. We have tons of lower managers and craft who do not make anywhere close to that. If you are an L2 making 150k+, you're making more than most/average employees of the company.
The whole post started with the suggestion of working for Costco for 62k a year. So if you're making >200k, which is probably in the top quarter of earners for the company, the post, the suggestion, and a lot of the concern on this forum is not for you. I know when I leave the company, I more than likely will not match my $, but I would not be so proud that I wouldn't work for $62k at Costco while I looked for something else. If someone makes so much that they would be insulted by 'having' to work for $30 an hour, then bully for them. But scoffing at it and throwing in the humble brag is so unnecessary.
The mid band for highest principal tops at 194260. It’s not unreasonable for someone to be 200k based on performance and tenure. It’s low end of the tier 3 band. The tier 2 mid-band is the largest range.
Director Technology is much higher.
Principal Full Stack Engineer $158,200.00 - $237,400.00
Principal Business Strategy $143,800.00 - $215,800.00
Principal Solution Architect $158,200.00 - $237,400.00
Principal Platform Architect $141,300.00 - $237,400.00
Principal Technology Security $128,400.00 - $215,800.00
Not really significantly higher, and again--200k is in the high-mid to high range. Principal is also L2. There are also far more Seniors and Leads than there are Principals, and all are L2. So Principal is top end anyway, and not representative of L2 as a whole. Lead is is middle of the pack and represents the L2 'average' pay better. Again, 200k is like the upper-middle class, but there are obviously quite a few Principals not within 15-20% of 200k.
Principal is higher than Lead. There are folks in the middle of the range making 200k.
it looks like the new range is approximately $143,800.00 - $215,800.00.
Correction, pasted the wrong thing. New range will likely have same bottom, but new max for an L2, Lead Geozone 2: $128,400.00 - $215,800.00 according to current job postings.
$200k is outside of the 2024 range for an L2-Lead Geozone 2 (New ranges will be easy to find on compensation report at the end of the month, but it looks like the new range is approximately $143,800.00 - $215,800.00.)
Minimum $128,400
Tier2 $144,451 - $176,5501
Tier 3 Maximum1$192,600
While I don't know what everyone in my group makes, all have laughed and been shocked at the ranges, because we don't know who the heck is in Tier 3, as most of us are very solidly middle Tier 2, averaging 15-25% below range max.
Re: L3 Pay
From current job listings, salary for an AD Engineering is $155,400.00 - $261,100.00.
Director Brand Marketing $158,200.00 - $237,400.00.
Director Communications/PR: $143,800.00 - $215,800.00
People will see those maxes and think that's where they'll 'start,' but most will likely start much closer to the bottom end. (~+20%)
I made 120k as a level one manager, no direct reports , before bonus. Chicago market.
“Fu-k you; you are not the typical T employee; you are well above the average.“
Huh? It’s slightly above the middle of the pay scale. Slightly. That’s L2.
Do you have any idea what L3’s make?
Literally says most make $30
Retail employment is the worst, a last resort!
Their new contract says starting salary will be $20, it would be a long road to make top pay. Gas pumpers start higher though. Overall, it pays better than similar jobs, my friend was getting $17 at Lowes. Having access to good benefits a big plus. Everyone seems happy at their job when I go there. Its not a quota grind like Amazon, or inconsistent hours like Home Depot/Lowes. Not a bad stepping stone when the unemployment runs out.
Most make $20 an hr. As usually the media only hypes top paying jobs but not the avg. or majority. Same as saying that AT&T employees make $125+ an hr but reality it’s only the few at top tier.
I'm not sure why you're so angry. I made $26 million last year. But I earned unlike my greedy employees who need to harder and stop being so entitled. Anywho, I'm off to shine my scalp.
I make 200k plus bonus. It’s quite a bit less.
Fu-k you; you are not the typical T employee; you are well above the average. I'd venture to say this forum isn't "for" you. You're probably that a--hole engineer who likes to come in and boast that you're making more tan all of us and has gotten exceptions to work 4 hours a day from home.
I make 200k plus bonus. It’s quite a bit less.
Many older T employees wouldn't meet the physical requirements for these positions,
Imagine that. You can now do Costco runs during work.
