I just don’t understand HPE’s motive for this acquisition except for a few reasons:
-
Tax write offs
-
Redemption from Aruba failures and Aruba is actively bleeding cash flow
-
Patent and IP stockpiling
-
Temporary investor cash out
-
Tired of hearing their customers say that they’re not using Aruba for their network infrastructure when they purchase HPE hardware
I refuse to believe that HPE has mutual and symbiotic benefits when an acquisition occurs.
What’s surprising is that the EU already gave them the green light. So the DOJ and FTC must have seen this as a real threat to our local economy, which is something HPE should have done their homework on. Sort of embarrassing to get this far and then being told that’s suddenly violating antitrust laws. Some condition of the acquisition agreement must have changed at the last second for the government to raise a red flag.
