Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

How Many Surplused cut ties with this cr-p company and switched providers?

Just wondering... I know I will get the snarky "we didnt need you" blah, blah, blah" but, the day after my last day... I went over to T-Mobile to switch my service, take advantage of their plans, and honestly have to say what a pleasant, frictionless, experience it has been... customer service was "Top Notch", and so far my service (and "Extra's) far surpass those I received at "T" . I didn't want to pay the exorbitant fee AT&T was going to charge me and got a better plan for way less money from T-Mo... INCLUDING canceling my service at T... paying off the rest of what I owed for my cell phone, porting my number over, and the trade in went without a hitch (unlike T, where they stole 3 of my trade ins even though I worked for the company!)

I know we have been "Brainwashed" at how superior we are to T-Mo - but being away from AT&T has taught me a lot... not only how we as "Employees" were treated like cr-p, but how our service was not top notch (of course got worse with laying off experienced, knowledgeable people to run the network. Anyway... I know someone will post I am not tied into AT&T.. but I was, worked out of NJ office, wouldn't move to the hub they wanted me at, so, they got rid of me. Once my final payout of my bonus comes in in March, I will have lots more to say since they wont have any way of effecting me. And it is about the big-wigs... the ones who put us into the cr-p situation. so anyway... how many switched? (to get back to the purpose of this post!) I would assume it would be thousands

Surplussed in 2023. Changed everything over to T-Mobile before my off date so when I was gone, everything about T was removed from my life

Here is another example of how messed up "T" is... I had to call T - customer service... there was a 2 1/2 hour wait to speak to a customer service person about my cancelled plan.... I then had to call T-Mobile customer support around the same time... got through to a very pleasant "Human" and spoke to her immediately! there was no wait whatsoever. THe rep handled my question and was extremely pleasant through the entire call and even gave me some tips on some things... NEVER had that service while I was with "T" even as an employee... I cant believe they win any of the JD Power awards they say they win... is that a paid off system? TMo beats them hands down!

Yes, and I tell my friends, family and my neighbors to switch too, to wherever but T. Stinkey thinks employees arent customers. For every employee lost, thats like 5x business lost.

“ The idea of getting a discount is more important than the actual cost. Unbelievable!!“

It really is. I see senior retirees always asking about the retiree Mobility discount on various forums, and it’s so frustrating. They are tripping over dollars to pick up a nickel. They can truly do better ANYWHERE else as regular customer.

As an outside tech who’s out and about all of the time, I need something that is reliable & will actually work when I need it & that sure isn’t T. It also bl0w$ my mind how many people here continue to stay with T “because we get a discount” even though there are so many other options that work better & cost less. The idea of getting a discount is more important than the actual cost. Unbelievable!!

I switched to US Mobile. Have not run into any majors issues yet. You can also switch between service providers (at&t, Verizon, t-mobile)
I prepaid for the year and got like 25% off

I switched back in 2005 to T-Mobile. Saved a lot of money over the T employee discount. I went for 2 reasons: 1. I was tired of the furry face CFO constantly badgering employees about using their credit card to pay their bill. 2. I saw a legal case where an SVP had an employee fired who the manager spied on where his usage was when he called in sick. The employee sues and call records were requested for the suit and legal said any records we have can be used to defend T in a law suit. I'm not going to put up with them being able to see my call/sms/data usage. Saving money was an extra bonus!!

yep--gonna be a complete and total divestiture of services (and stocks) where applicable. Gonna be the ultimate NPS detractor for immediate family, extended family and friends as it relates to the company.

I switched to T-Mobile long time ago when I was on T payroll. Their Magenta plan was cheaper than T employee concession and I get free international text and data when travelling abroad. T can’t match that.

I switched when I left and created a network to cancel T and go to other providers . Very successful , exponential defections. They would have been better off just paying me not to start the defect T campaign . They are so incredibly stupid . Most were residential and some were small business

Switched away from all T services the day I left. TMOB retail was cheaper than the Stink's $hitty employee discounts. Even when with TMOB 5G internet for the house - cheaper and faster!

I don't know why T has any retail customers! Should be easy for the Stink to bankrupt this $hithole. But the Stink cannot even do that right!

I was surplus'd in 2019. I was on (VZ) and then Xfinity (VZ) for a couple of years under my brother's plan until I turned 59.5. I recently got my own mobile plan under T-Mobile. It was very seamless, service has been fine in my area. But the old rule still applies, it depends on where you live and regularly travel. A carrier may or may not be as good as the others in any particular area. Yeah, the AT&T retiree discount wasn't really much of anything, what, $5/mo off? T-Mob was cheaper at the base rate, the 55+ plans ki-l it.

I have been on VZ FiOS internet (AT&T is not in my area anyway) for many years and it has always been rock-solid.

I cancelled "TV" service in early 2010. Never missed it. Netflix, Prime, is good enough for me.

I can't see supporting T for how they continue to treat employees.

I retired and switched to T-mobile. My plan now is much more cost effective than the AT&T employee discount plan that we had, and much better than the retiree plan (which is not as good as the active employee plan). Plus better cell phone service in my area. So very happy with the switch.

Began switching all my services the day I received my off payroll date.

  • Switched to TMobile for mobile
  • Switched to flawless Metronet fiber for internet
  • For TV I have Netflix, Huku and prime video that comes with Amazon Prime
  • I kept HBO for free for 3 months by not logging out even though I kept getting notices from them LMAO
  • I also worked with two family households to switch all of their services away from AT&T
  • Whenever someone in the neighborhood inquires about recommendations for video or mobile I steer them clear
  • I report their Ads for fiber on Facebook when they pop up and classify it as a scam

That’s how you do it. Fu$king them over one customer at a time.

  • Cancelled 12 mobile lines (average 3 year subscription)
  • Cancelled 3 Uverse subscriptions (video and internet)
  • Cancelled 3 HBO subscriptions
  • 3 neighbors directed to TMob
  • 5 neighbors directed to Metronet

T mobile has its issues too but there pricing was better than ATT so I never switched to T when I was hired in 1989.

Here’s the deal, you can do better at TMO than you can even with the active employee mobility discount here at T. Especially if you’re over 55 or a veteran, as TMO has great discount plans for both. So you shouldn’t even really wait to be laid off to make the switch.

Worked there 21 years - switched 3 days after I left - got upgraded phones from Tmo and never spent another peso on T. I did make some off T shorting the stock tho. Honestly don’t understand how T keeps customers- network is mid, price is high and the service su-ks if u visit a store or have to call India.
Fu T- u su-k.
