Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

VZW Q4 Results

Just saw post with Hans bragging about "strong" Q424 Financial results. Well, when you lay off a good portion of your workforce, what do you expect? Get rid of really, really great people so Wall Street and investors will be happy. Forget about the people that were impacted. What a way to treat "valued" employees.

Not to mention how amazing it was made to sound that we would be getting an STi of 3% this year, when it was 9% last year lol

@ac+1jjcs2e82 : don't forget that VZ is more than just wireless we have a very broad and vast wireline network. On that side of the business we had a push to decom unused or under utilized equipment. Which helps with reduced costs for power or cooling as well as decommissioning underutilized sites to get rental costs off the books. There are ways to reduce operating costs that have nothing to do with wireless consumer plans

Verizon doesn’t value employees, we are all just numbers. They fire you when you’ve been here too long and lay you off when you’re young for no payout, been doing this for years.

VZ won't be able to keep raising prices... The only way is mass layoffs to lower costs.

Hmmm price plan increase due to higher operating costs. Operating costs down around 4.5% at years end. Interesting.
