Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Adidas

Adidas told Kanye to kick rocks, got out of the fashion business, and returned to sports. Their stock is up over 100% since hitting rock bottom. Meanwhile, Nike is out here giving every D-list streamer or influencer a shoe deal. Nike stock is still searching for rock bottom.

At this rate, Cooper Flagg might debut his signature shoe before Caitlin Clark due to us prioritizing the next Kai Cenat shoe.

Adidas is about to be in some deep sh-t. They will not grow YOY because last year was the last time they could sell Yeezy’s. If they really was out of the hole or hit “rock bottom” like the other poster said then they definitely would not be laying off. Also go to any mall the only shoes they have are sambas and gazelles selling. Consumers are already fatigued. There is no brand heat. Nike will decide the future. Give it time. Things here might be bumpy for the next year or two but the investments in innovation will pay off. Sh-t ain’t greener down the street. Nike experiences things first because it’s the industry leader. Adidas stocks will go down you can take that to the bank.

@jc+1jj8tnee8 I’d agree with you except there are plenty of Stanford MBA grads who seem to be doing just fine at Nike, and we love their Strat decks even though none of them have ever worked to run an actual business in their lives.

"In the U.S. office there is zero career progression unless you’re {went to OU} or have lived in {OU} and if you move to {Beaverton} the chances they will move you back are slim to none."

Fixed it to apply to Nike campus.

Oregon college degrees are a joke. You got the equivalent of a 9th grade public education from a non-re----k state. Yay. But you'll never see this because you can't read.

One of my family members use to work for Adidas, what @ch+1jj8tnee8 listed out is 100% true. They got amazing career experience but upward mobility doesn’t exist in that US Office. Salaries are lower and require you to do way more work than someone at Nike.

Keep in mind this is someone who went from Nike to Adidas to another company (big promotion).

So there is a positive but they’re going to work you for way less and make you do about 3 people’s jobs. However, benefit is you’re doing 3 jobs.

@ds+1jj8tnee8 good thing you can’t read. Never said I didn’t buy stocks. I said I don’t buy single stocks, because that’s for id--ts and gamblers. VTO and chill, I’m golden. My portfolio is up 25% this year.

Also, 2-3 years is a snapshot to prove your narrative. Adidas has always had tiny ups and Nike has surpassed them. Adi stock plummeted, Nike followed. Adi rebounded, Nike will to, larger picture, Nike has by far out performed adidas. Also you can’t compare share price to share price without taking into consideration the number of shares. The valuation is 3.5x higher at Nike in our current slump.

@cy+1jj8tnee8 Probably a good thing that you don’t buy stocks given you can’t do math. Go look at adidas vs Nike stock over the last 2-3 years and then come post again.

Adidas is nothing compared to Nike. Its the truth. Nike will ALWAYS be on top. Shut the hxll up about Adidas. They are literally irrelevant.

Adidas is a better company than Nike now.

@cv+1jj8tnee8 Stock at adidas is because of recently quarterly earnings. It has nothing to do with their brand equity long run (which is terrible btw).

Also, personally I never buy since stocks because I don’t like gambling.

As an employee, their stock grants are significantly less and don’t start until higher in the org.

Meaning; Nike is still preferred. You can’t just look at indivisible stock in a single quarter without considering overall valuation.

Honestly, quit pointing towards what others are doing and doing better and focus on yourself and increasing your own contribution. Nike is best on the offense and paying attention to adidas is the opposite

This is about Adidas stock. Not about working at Adidas at all or Adidas employees. Looking strictly at it from the perspective of a shareholder.

Adidas isn’t any better than Nike. In fact, unless you’re a white European male (preferable to be German, danish or British) you aren’t really taken seriously. In the U.S. office there is zero career progression unless you’re German or have lived in Germany and if you move to Germany the chances they will move you back are slim to none.

Take that and their average SENIOR MANAGER salary is about 100k a year and gets no stock and 15% bonus, while Nike sr manager has stock, 20% bonus and much higher salary , (directors in Germany make 100k euro, and directors in Portland are 120-150)

Add on no money for marketing, travel (and if you do travel, it’s coach all the way up to VP), no events, worse gym equipment, and little to no resources (try doing 3X the work of Nike for half the salary) etc… the grass is not greener.

Ask me how I know

“ Adidas is laying off 500 people after beating earnings estimates.”

Personally, I take that as a warning/sign of things to come for us at Nike.

@by+1jj8tnee8 yes he is signed to New Balance. I think the point OP is trying to make is that New Balance, unlike Nike with Clark, will move quickly.

Grass isn’t always greener, but we just don’t have leaders who can get us out of the rut right now. We will remain number one, but our dominance will continue to decrease.

Sounds like a bunch of jealous adidas employees wishing they worked at Nike making posts. Everyone knows adidas is terrible.
