Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Waiting to see some retirement emails…..

You can’t send a video to all 70k employees saying if we work hard we “might” get last years cr-ppy bonus.
Company direction decisions are made by 200 leaders max. The rest of us work hard in the daily grind every day and have no direct influence on stock or where we sell shoes or what product is made.
Those 200 or so should get zero bonus and the rest of us 100% with emails announcing current leaders that got us here are leaving.
Continuing to tread water is not good for morale. The hype speeches were good but let’s see the hard work of letting leaders go. You can’t move forward with the people that created the mess. Doesn’t build trust. Sack up before it’s too late. Seeing adidas stock is painful. Turnaround time is taking too long. Let’s go!

I'll applaud only if there are no more boomerang returns. I'm tired of us recycling old execs that decided they had one last hurrah in them. What's the point of getting rid of these old timers that sank us, just to see the return of other old timers that passively nodded while sh*% was happening.

Can’t wait for these leadership change emails to come from EH. There will be applause when the current bozo execs’ “retirements” are announced.

I was expecting more from EH, but it's about time we end the honeymoon stage and get real. And who even understood what he means...no numbers, no explanation of how we'll get there. EH, be radical. Be accountable. Be the change you want to see. Cut the bonuses up top, and redistribute. Even if it's not enough to tip the scale, it shows accountability and commitment to this business and its people.

@ba+1jj89f7c3 If by biggest competitor you mean adi, you are neglecting they paid less than a half to even 0% bonus the last 7 years before this one. How do I know? I worked there.

Besides they just announced massive layoffs, so if you really think the grass is greener go ahead and leave. We don’t need this attitude on the team who will win.

Instead of focusing on developing the best future leaders, Nike caved to political pressure and prioritized DEI as a short-term initiative without fully thinking through how not having the best people in each role would exactly hurt the business over the long haul. All other companies have figured this out already. How long will it take Nike?

you say that but our biggest competitor has paid more than 100% bonus last year and looking at their results will do the same again this year. The market is there but we are not competitive in it

Omg I am not going to get my non-guaranteed bonus!!! When the rest of the industry is contracting globally, layoffs everywhere and competitors not paying bonus for years??? Waaaaaaaa.

Entitled much? Quit asking for more from others and learn to feed yourself. Turn this ship around and your bonus will come.

I would say that the 200 leaders you speak of have all been at Nike for too long to be able to make a difference. They with r don’t know or are too scared of retaliation by their peers to make difficult and new decisions.
This turn around will be a lot tougher then you imagine unfortunately.

yes, TRUE accountability at the top, not just lip service

Even at individual contributor level, I see people blaming other teams rather than taking accountability or try to help solve problems. I don't agree that the rest of us can't make a difference. There are plenty everyone can do better at.
