Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Performing job duties not listed on job description

I expected that at some point I would be asked to do tasks not specifically outlined in my job description. However, it's already started to create a huge pressure on me and I really don't know what to do. Anyone else with a similar experience? Perhaps the only solution is to start looking for another job.

@1vhg+1jj1Ok4m ohh so that’s your concern then? … maybe your boss got tired of your laziness and wants to add pressure on you to make you earn those coins or drive you out the door. You are waiting for a RIF and all you may end up getting is a PIP …

I don't mind working hard for my employer but not this company since they view their employees as slave labor they can just take advantage of, abuse, wave $200 and then let them starve. If they cared about us they'd incentivized hard work but they legit don't. Did you see the Q3 results? Nobody wants to work hard for this ceo. This company will sink itself due to pure greed and then they'll try to blame its employees. That's the kind of company this is now. Glad I'm leaving this sh ithole! See ya in he-l hanziiiii

@1tss+1jj1Ok4m Why dont you switch jobs then? Go work for Tmobile where “ they really care about people” and are actually laying off like a MF

Someone, please post the dream company in this thread , where you will never be asked to perform any work that is outside the job duties

How does it feel when your SM is chilling after taking THAT imp phone call/meeting or group call & then they’re magically on lunch & one of you are checking/taking care of the next customers(10 in queue or possibly more), checking in inventory while they’re still burping, escalations: Nope I’m on lunch, you got this buddy & then the 8th hour hits, whoever is the closer, “Please make sure to post those NUMBERS”, I’m Gone, See ya’ll tomorrow. Not to put salt on nobody’s wounds here but isn’t that our daily life at Verizon?

How pathetic. Absolutely sickening. REALLY??? Job duties always have been and always will be WHATEVER gets shoveled downhill. OPEN WIDE! You are in the American workforce now and this is how it has always been. And at Verizon, more so each and every year as the woke elite at the top cut more and more of the everyday workforce to even up their lousy financials from their lousy leadership decisions. The American workforce doesn't give trophies/awards for simply showing up regardless of what your mommies and daddies screamed at your schools' teachers and coaches and demanded they do to kiss your backsides. Leather up and suck it up, buttercups. If it's too much for you, go back to your mommies' and daddies' basements and let them powder your backsides and fill your Capn' Crunch bowls while you play video games and mindlessly post on social media. And yet my generation wonders how our society has eroded into what it is today. So sad.

First day? Pretty sure taking on extra duties and unpaid responsibilities is part of the credo. Hans even said it in today's q and a. "WE LEARNED A LOT OF THINGS DURING THE PANDEMIC IN THE LAST TWO, THREE YEARS HERE, HOW TO WORK AND BE MORE EFFICIENT"

Well, depending on your local laws there could be something there. Having a union definitely would stop that. Your job description is bargained. Depending one what you're being asked to do. You could try HR.

Hilarious! You are stressed out due to being asked to do more than whats in your work description? Its call real life!!! Time to wake up and smell the coffee buddy!

people will always be asked to go outside of their job description, anywhere you go, it’d be the same, especially in today’s work environment where companies are being forced to do more with less resources. Take it as an opportunity to learn new skills and be thankful for having a job.

You can also call EAP…
