Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

RTO Started Mid Summer 2023

with 3 days/week. Most folks complied, however, thousands did not. Nothing happened to those folks to this day. I know several of them and others here likely know folks as well. If the company doesn't have the stones to go after 3/week non-compliers, why would anyone expect them to go after 5/week non-compliers? They don't need rats or spies. They have all they need from your card swipes and login info. They can also collect keystroke data if they need to.

Problem for ATT is simple: with thousands of people in violation, you have to treat all of them the same. Discipline one, you have to disciple all. If you don't, the employment lawyers will be waiting. ATT just won't do that, so it'll be lots of threats, but little else.

They are trying to spook people out the door and it'll have minimal effect. Only way to downsize is layoffs and they will pay for that with severance and 6 months of unemployment. Make them pay. Don't quit.

Good riddance!

I know several folks that have been let go this month in CA because of RTO (Legg Org.). These folks were RTO non-compliers and refused to return to the office. The decision came directly from HR - their supervisors couldn't save them. No severance, no unemployment, etc. They were not part of any Wave 1-3 relocations. I don't agree with what the company is doing regarding RTO, but be prepared to get your walking papers if you refuse to come into the office.

Show me the proof that RTO works. The only proof is savings due to the fact that many people were forced to leave or quit. But the other side of RTO is low morale. Low morale = lack of productivity. Maybe on balance sheets Little Rascal can show the difference but in reality RTO made the situation worse. We are not moving with the speed of trust.

Blackrock isn’t one of the reasons, they are THE reason.

I can’t wait for a documentary about their collusion, blackmail and manipulation across companies towards the detriment of employees, if anyone is ever brave enough for it.

I do agree that Blackrock is one of the reasons they are cancelling work from home. Blackrock does a lot of investigating into the companies they own.

Non compliant was less than 5% fyi. Ever notice how all the requirements seem to match from company to company. All those companies being owned by Blackrock. Almost like the talking points and mandates are coordinated. Nah, couldn’t be collusion happening to suppress wages and other things.

Just quietly take notes. They can let you go for no reason but if they bit you cuz of non compliance with RTO, they better not be discriminating.
