Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Is Humana going under or what is going on this year?

Every year it's the same thing. Mandatory OT for peak season, but not this year. My department has been extremely busy way before peak and even worse after. We have lost a ton of people with no interest in hiring any more in my department. My team alone went from over 20 people to less than 10. Is there a reason they do not want to pay out OT or hire into my department? Would anyone have any insight? We are all so burnt out over here and it's becoming a real problem. I was literally standing in my kitchen before work last week crying because I just knew what was coming.

I empathize with you! The gauge of a good week at my job at Humana was "how many times did I cry this week"? I was trying to hang in there for as long as I could but I finally realized my mental health wasn't worth any perceived benefits I had by staying. I finally left and am making a bit more money, benefits are much better (though we know that bar is kinda low on that) and the constant threat of layoffs is finally gone. It took me almost a year of interviewing to get out but it was well worth it. Humana's not acting in your best interest so you have to for yourself.

Op- I’m curious as to what department you work in?

If you think other companies will be better then best of luck! I made a decision last year because I thought it was going to get bad but I really regret leaving. So do your analysis and pros and cons before you leave. Just saying!

I definitely think I am going to begin searching. I was in the home buying process and wasn't in a place to switch jobs but now that it's all done and closed I guess it is time to start my search. It seemed like such a great company when I started but has just declined over the years

I was a mess before making the decision to leave the big H, but couldn’t be happier I’m gone. Life goes on and other payors compensate their employees much better than Humana. All the brains and talent left last year so look for continued rocky times if you stay.

Humana is not interested in making your life easier. Perhaps you should look inside of yourself and ask what is making you stay in a job that causes a reaction such as crying before starting your work day. Life is short! There really are other jobs out there.
