Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Catch 22

Yes, I hate it here. Yes, I’ve been looking on the outside. BUT there are a few realities that some don’t realize.

If you are older, late 50’s-60’s most companies won’t hire you since they know that you will retire in a few years. Deniable age discrimination.

Next, if you are older, do you really want to learn a new company and things at this point in your life?

It is easier said than done.

Excuses. Those are just excuses to justify staying in this miserable place. If you're too afraid to learn new things or be the "new guy" after several decades, that's on you. That doesn't mean it's impossible for everyone else in your situation. You have too much life left to live to live it miserably. Look for a new job.

I’m in HR and can vouch that many companies will hire those older especially because they still want to work and have so much knowledge and experience. Discrimination will always exist if you’re old, young, a guy, a girl, a parent, single, ethnic minority, on your looks, g-y, or heteros-xual. Its how you put yourself forward.

Maybe get in touch with recruiters to assist. If you’ve worked at fiserv then you will get employed but at least be out of this he-l

Every day Fiserv changes something that you have to adapt for. Learning a new company might be easier than staying at Fiserv.

Hire a resume service to update your resume and LinkedIn. I left Fiserv on my own (after 25+ years) and have gotten two jobs in my 50s. One a recruiter reached out to me, the other I applied for. And you need to be open to learning new things!
