Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Got my exit survey (voluntary)

Pick 3 three reasons you're leaving us:

Corporate Culture
Leadership
Flexibility/Work life balance

What's one thing we can do to improve our corporate culture?

"Easy: fire stankey. He's a giant melanoma that needs to be cut out like the cancer he is. BUT don't replace him with that tu-d Legg"

Short and sweet.

I'd have been 12th on the list, with my hand raised, waiting to be laid off.

Not worth it.

If you can do it, do it. Hopefully you were smart with your savings. Look into other medical coverage options. Found a way better plan than the trash ATT offers for way less than COBRA. After taxes, 6 months severance wasn't worth the time and aggravation of playing the Hunger Games every day for parking, a place to sit, and working toilets. Switching all service to TMO for less than the ATT employee discount.

Rot in he-l, Stank. It's where you belong.

No one’s reading it. But as long as you feel better about it.

At least you got a survey. Here's a good story for all. Had 17 yrs with the company (started SBC) in IT. In 2019 got outsourced to IBM. T realized they sc--wed up and outsourced too many with expert knowledge. T then hired a number of us back in 2023. Worked for 16 months and then got surplused. I only needed one more year of service to reach my 20 yr mark and retire with no reduction in pension. Talk about a shady unethical company.

I wish they’d let laid off folks get to do the exit surveys. I’d have had a field day with it (which is why they don’t, I guess).

I hope this post is true and you really did say that.

Then apologies. You'll be stuck with the Stank forever. That was the only freeform field. Enjoy the circus.

That exit survey's purpose is exactly the opposite of what you think it is. It is a way to measure how well their attrition tactics are working and which ones are working the best. You just armed them with the knowledge of exactly what policies drove you to quit so they can double down on them to accelerate the headcount reduction.

Re: medical. Work with a health insurance broker. Went from high deductible plan to $30 copay for less than half the price of ATT COBRA.

RE: RTO

It was multiple choice. Mandatory RTO5 I would consider part of Flexibility.

24x7x365 job with no Flexibility to WFH on weekends/holidays or if you had to work different shifts in a week. Normally if I had to change shifts, I'd take those 2 WFH days to transition.

PREcovid, had my own desk. Now fighting for one. No thanks.

Other questions like would you recommend ATT as an employer (guess). Did you feel appropriately compensated (guess). Do you feel that you had opportunity for growth/advancement (guess). ETC

  1. Kid grown and out of the house. Single. Now living my best life.

THIS COMPANY HATES YOU. Give 2 weeks if you feel like it. Otherwise, put yourself first and don't look back.

Stop paying for your kid's stuff if they're grown and capable. They're more capable than you usually give them credit for, unless they have special circumstances. If you're not ready to go yet, get yourself ready ASAP. If you think the circus is going to get better, you're delusional. Put yourself first. This company will not.

“ You didn’t mention in office work as one of your reasons.”

Because you sound like a mo--n if you say “I quit because you were making come to work.”

Were you allowed to work from home and suddenly were made to come in the office or were you a virtual worker that just suddenly couldn’t take it any longer? You didn’t mention in office work as one of your reasons.

Best thing about tmo is that they bill a flat price. The same price they tell you in store. No junk fees or scams.

Best of luck, too bad they won't pay attention to your reasons.
