Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Too many people are still leaving

Another colleague has left, and another is giving notice soon. That probably fits into the company's plan, to have as many of us leave voluntarily? If that's the plan, then it's going great. /s.

Just left T last week (voluntarily) and running with my lump sum in tact!
I'm so happy to have left after 24 years!
Job offers from vendor and ex-managers came in 10 minutes after I sent my farewell email.
There is life after T.... and it looks much brighter.

The problem is all the good people are leaving. And no incentives to keep them.

Pay is good, work is easy and slow, so, it’s worth the easy paycheck to hang around and make the cut!

Pay is good. No reason to leave on my own.

“ T wants low pay, no skill college hires. ”

Half right. But the LDP/TDP program offers signing bonus and a six figure starting pay. (110,000)

There hasn't been much new work for a very long time either, so the employees leave for more interesting work. My dept just redesigns already existing features or "upgrades" them with new fields that only circle back to already existing data. Not interesting and not challenging.

T wants low pay, no skill college hires. They d-mb down the product lines enough so any Joe can sell it. That will allow the company to have a revolving door of employees. Eventually, they’ll get rid of the college hires and hire anyone for $40k a year to sell it.
As they are surplusing people, they have ads for new hires to start in 2023.

In network, Sambar announced no backfill for attrition. Call it whatever they want, hiring freeze is in effect, except for college hires already in the pipeline.

I assure you, there is zero concern with T's current voluntary attrition rate. Santone provided a readout to BOD last month, on target for reduction plan.

Keep talking about leaving. Do nothing. Typical.

I won't go down with this ship. I won't close my eyes and surrender. Cuz I'm already gone.

A lot of folks I know are leaving. The issue is their dedication and knowledge is also leaving.
We hired a replacement last year for a retired employ and he lasted 6 months. His reason for leaving - it’s too much work.
I’m thankful I’m leaving in a couple of years. The workload, environment and pay aren’t where it needs to be. I can leave, make 30% more with less work.
I feel for anyone wanting to stick it out long term.
