Funny how DEI is all about hiring by merit, and all you hear from the cumservative clown car is race this and race that. Fu--ing cowards are lucky that liberals guarantee their right to even have an opinion about it. smh

Poc dominate Nike wear they keep Nike alive globally/ internationally too. As well as Jordan’s being the pendulum of black sneaker fashion culture. They KNOW this so yeah no not gonna happen. You all give yourselves too much credit Nike became more popular from its collab with MJ a black basketball star. Please stop letting your white nationalism affect our businesses & establishments.

DEI = Didn’t Earn It

Honestly, sc--w you and all of you who turn to point at DEI as the problem facing Nike.

Let’s get a few things sorted:
1 - it is not “smart”, “cute”, or “clever” to refer to non-white, people of color broadly as “DEI”, or “H1Bs”. It’s lacking any nuance, and is all code worded to hide the fact you are ignorant and uneducated.

2 - this is the same forum with nearly unanimous agreement that JD tanked the company with PKs backing. Both are cis white men. And most of our VPs and senior leadership that get railed at? Also, mostly cis white men. Someone square that circle for me. If your answer is “actually it’s all of the above”, then you don’t have any argument with clear specifics.

3 - all of this “go woke go broke”, anti-DEI cr-p is so obvious. Now that Trumps in office you take the mask off and now you’re emboldened to say it more and more. It’s not out of any heartfelt desire to “make Nike better”. It’s gamesmanship based on the political flavor du jour, and it’s disgusting.

4 - can anybody who rails against DEI give one specific example of how a company policy has affected performance in a meaningful way? All we hear are how it’s a bad concept, but no substance.

5 - if DEI policies were eliminated, how would you prevent uniformity in the work place? What’s your solution? If you have the time to complain, but have no idea of how to make it better, then you’re acting like how a child does. Better go find mommy and daddy to fix the problem you’ve so clearly moaned about.

Seriously, sc--w all of you and don’t let the door hit you on the way out. I hope you find your uniform, perfect white corporate environments where oligarchy and fascism collide.

Even a sizable share of Latinos oppose DEI. Did you not see the results of the latest election and the commentary around Latino men?

All of the white folks that are complaining about DEI will actually need those programs in a few years because the population is shifting to be more non white. So its very interesting that you guys hate something that you or your kids will inevitably need in the not-so-distant future. Then it will be let's bring DEI back, there are too many Latino people.

DEI has zero to do with recent financial performance. Rather, look at the decisions made by the last CEO (and to some extent MP) - focus on tech > product, reliance on Jordan and Dunks, focus on lifestyle > sport.

The problem started when companies went overboard and somewhere the "E" changed to equity from equality. This caused leaving out other groups of people who never experienced being treated differently before this storm took over US in 2020.

Just a thought.. would Nike sell their shoes , for example Vaporfly which is $250+ to customers based on what they can afford to pay, let's say $50.
If its about equity, then everyone deserves to get Vaporfly or any shoe they want, for the price they can afford to pay.

Most of our money comes from DEI customers and athletes, so if we go all white, we will end up bad

@me+1jh946rhh Progress on the DEI KPI targets which exec comp is linked to is reported in the Annual Impact Report. The most recent report for FY23 was published in March 2024. Unless EH scraps it, the FY24 report will be available in a couple of months. Very cute indeed……

It’s possible that some of those issues stem from Nike shifting its focus to virtue signaling, DEI, and prioritizing growing the women’s business over everything else.

Its funny how its "Lets blame DEI" instead of looking at the real facts:

Nike lacks innovation
Nike lacks creativity
Nike lacks cool advertising they dominated the 90s and early 2000s with.

Nike got EXTREMLY lucky with Michael Jordan from 1984 - 1998...

Nike got lazy and thought retro shoes, and designs would carry them forever...

Nike Fumbled horribly with Steph Curry / Kyrie Irving...

its so funny Michael Jordan is the BIGGEST draw / money maker for Nike...

white people are so annoying.

I only wish MJ, Kobe, and all the other greats created their own brand instead of being tied to a racist, short sighted, ignorant, and lazy company. Nike doesn't deserve Michael Jordan.

Makes sense. There is a reason snowflakes are "White".

Here's a list of companies who are still promoting DEI, attracting talent and not tanking their business. Apple, Costco, PepsiCo, Coca Cola, J&J, Novartis, Marriott, Mastercard, E&Y, Salesforce, Visa,.... the list is endless. I was hopeful that Nike would embrace creativity with JD gone but the rotten and infectious core of "white boys gymkhana club" still remains. No wonder the company is in the sh----r.

This post is crazy. Yes let's rid DEI from Nike effective immediately. Let's swing the pendulum so far back to the other side when it was a boys club, when the patriarchal system valued masculine traits and characteristics over feminine ones. When inappropriate comments, s-xual harassment and blatant racism were ignored.

Sorry. Everyone on here reminiscing about the glory days of nike and wants to blame DEI for all the issues and not the terrible business decisions. Society changes and there is a new generation of consumers to serve in the footwear industry (were not Meta). oh let's not forget the black people are the pioneers of sneaker culture and street style. You're id--ts.

Us black people at Nike secretly & rightfully hate you white people. We talk about you all behind your backs and call you klan members. Thank God your genetics won’t allow you to outlive us. But do enjoy being paid to keep shoes on our feet. We don’t respect you colonizers.

DEI has been disastrous for Nike. Management literally took their eye off the ball and focused on virtue signaling. At a bare minimum this is a wonderful way to cut costs, in addition to starting to fix what has been broken with our culture.

Amazon also joined the club of companies scaling back its DEI efforts. As noted in their December memo to employees, they are “winding down outdated programs and materials" related to representation and inclusion, aiming to complete the process by the end of 2024.

@a5+1 OP here, not sure what border wall you fell off of and hit your head but I don’t post here often. I’d just rather hires and company practices not be based on race and skin color but on actual talent. That’s why we keep giving out sh-t products that consumers hate and why our stock has tanked for 2 years. Oh and I also hope your name is on the list for the next round of layoffs. We should get rid of all racial and s-xual based groups because that just makes no sense for a professional company.

DEI was a cottage industry for consultants who are paid to do 90 minute white guilt PowerPoints and the industry collapsed the minute companies faced economic pressure and didn’t have free money to give to low value social justice initiatives. The pendulum has swung so violently in the other direction because activists overplayed their hand in the wake of 2020, discrediting basically all of the DEI orthodoxy.

You can add Meta to the list of companies scaling back DEI. They announced this week they are cutting their DEI team, ending equity and inclusion programs, ending supplier diversity efforts, ending their “diverse slate approach” to hiring, and eliminating representation goals. Instead, they will “focus on applying fair and consistent practices that mitigate bias for all, regardless of background.”

Hey! You’re back! I missed you! What did your [non-white or qu--r or female or old or disabled] coworker do today to pi-s you off today. Ughhhh they’re so annoying right!!???? No idea why we let JD hire they/them when Bob was doing great in the first place. Bob’s still around, lives in Newburg now.. a lifelong Oregonian, farthest he ever lived from campus was Eugene when he was in college. I’ll tell him you said Hi. Well, post more often, now that we kept the White House white (get it?, lol) I suspect we’ll see less political correctness so you can say whatever you want instead of hiding behind anonymity. Cheers and do post more often.

Let’s hope… this company has too many ineffective individuals in very high-level, influential positions who were appointed solely to stuff DEI statistics.

Most of the other companies do it have a strong reliance on white, blue collar workers.

That’s really not Nike’s clientele anymore. It’s more young, multiracial, liberal audience. Has been for some time.

Once you see companies like LVMH and Apple ditching it, then Nike would follow suit.

Currently, CAT, McDonalds, Toyota… really isn’t companies we compare ourselves too…
