Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Field Engineer 2

I've been with the company for 2 years now as a field engineer 2. Like the job, like my team, and like the company. I'm starting to realize that the company is dangling a carrot in front of me when it comes to a promotion to Eng 3. Its no longer about the quality of work but more so about how many projects I'm apart of and who notices me on these projects. Two years in and I can see everything the veterans of the department were talking about when I started. Time to start looking for a new position.

Field Engineer as a Cell Site Engineer or Network Operations Engineer? If so, I highly doubt the department will retain you as a level 2 engineer, since that is reserved as someone who is learning or junior role. Eventually you get promoted to level 3 or if you’re not cutting it…you get promoted to being a customer.

In all honesty, it is just a job, not a career (except for the select few) don't chase carrots at VZ, it will ki-l your joy in life.

As a fairly new employee to the company, stay positive and keep doing good work.
