I had my VP call me the day I was let go, right after I was informed. I was told I was a critical position that they cannot do without, but they were given no choice… it was mandated they had to let me go because I was WFH. What makes me upset is that I was given the choice to move last year or stay where I was. I asked if I said no to relocation, would that put my job in jeopardy? I was guaranteed there would be no impact on my job. Turns out that was not the truth

Watching the $hit show from the sidelines.
It’s like watching a bad car wreck. Thankful I got the heck out of there.
The more knowledgeable you are, the less they want you there.
Over promise, under deliver.
Run. Don’t walk. The relief of the stress induced anxiety attacks, no longer working 16 hours a day, 7 days a week, new found freedom from prison….. it exists.
Just because you work from home and have astronaut or other special "clearance" to keep slogging away from the comfort of your cozy office and just because your division or group isn't impacted by forced RTO or weekly riffing, THEY ARE STILL COMING FOR YOU. Are you ready?
Some other companies I may move for. Not Fiserv. Not worth it for this dumpster fire. Look for a new job where you live
All remote workers are at risk, don't think you are special or omitted if you are ok this camp. 700+ people are on the list that will have to make a tough decision - relocate or take a package.

Know people who relocated and were still let go
The truth and the strategy and the specifics change. I don't think the "promise" you were told was disingenuous--at the time. The continued tightening of the screws on remote work is coming solely from the top of the house. Very top. There's virtually nothing even SVPs can do to dissuade the cuts, at least not the volume of cuts. It's a horrific experience for remote associates and for their managers frankly...no pun intended. Imagine a gravelly voice in tantrum mode: "Why the heck do you'se still have so many people not in an office? Not acceptable...cut 'em."
They will claim that business needs changed and what was true a year ago is no longer true and that you should have re-asked the question.
no surprise. They value in office workers over talented ones. It's a blessing for you even though it doesn't feel that way now. You will land somewhere much better where you can watch the sh*tshow from the sidelines.
I know several people in Premier Bank Solutions that work from home, not everyone has been forced to RTO yet. Who knows how long it will last though.
