Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

How Do I Quit?

I have been very unhappy since I started Fiserv, and have been on the verge of quitting since the start. All the current events have pushed me over the edge. My boss is out office, even tho i havent interracted with them much ever. If i want to quit who do I contact? Wait for my manager? Contact their boss? Is there an HR email address? Do i need to put in a ticket someplace? Is there any reason to give 2 week notice, if i am in a new area and havent been trained anything, nor is there a trainee to pass on knowledge too... can i just be done today somehow? I just want this over, i dont want to wait and see if i am in Nov or Dec cuts...

Couple things to consider here. 1. Do you have a backup plan or another job to keep paying bills? If No then by all means keep showing up to work but be on a serious job hunt in the meantime. 2. 2 weeks is a Courtesy, but in their current plan, the folks being let go are not given any notice AT ALL. Folks have their meeting and get walked out ASAP, barely able to get their personals from their desks. if they can do that to the employees, obviously no turnovers are needed. Basically I see it as returning the Courtesy meted out.

You should probably stay just to use it as a platform to get another job. That being said if you’re mental health is at stake just walk out. There’s no need to tell anyone. They will figure it out but who cares?

Follow Frank's leadership. Benefit yourself the most at the expense of the company. Keep showing up and getting paid while you job search. If you don't have anyone to report to or anything to work on, how would anyone know?

Why would you not just continue to collect money while you find a new job? Put it in when you find one and if you get laid off you have 2.5 months of pay. Don’t know why anyone would just quit without having something lined up first

If you feel that you will be riff’d why resign? Let them pay you severance.

When I left they sent info for me to take my laptop to FedEx. FedEx packed it and shipped it. I retuned my badge but NOT the Fiserv credit card. That credit card is based on your credit. Just destroy it. It won't work anyway but don't return it. Oh, and I added a declared value $4000 on the FedEx shipping, you know in case their 5yr old laptop gets damaged.

Always sounds like a perfect plan… however not always so.. I know someone who emailed HR directly to hive two weeks notice… they shut her down immediately which was fine with her

Go above your ooo manager to their manager to start the discussion.

Always walk the higher road. Try to contact your manager, even if it's just by phone. Give two weeks, even if you've got jack-squat to turn over. One, because it's the right thing to do. Two, because you never know when not doing so could come back to bite you on the rear.

Assuming you don't have an office, they should send you some sort of an account that you can use at FedEx or UPS. Just put your stuff in a box, take it there, and walk out. I even wrapped my items in bubble wrap. Make sure you get a receipt for dropping it off!

The 2-week notice rule is a courtesy if you need to do task turnover (which doesn't seem to be the case here). You may also want to leverage another 2 weeks if it pushes you into the next pay period.
Agree with the advice to contact HR but only if your manager is unavailable right away and by phone. The Fiserv HR team is quite busy these days helping people leave, so you might have take a number, ha! But seriously, don't send a "hi, I quit" email to your boss without first attempting a conversation with him. Reserve the email for after the conversation to recap any agreed-upon next steps.

You auto-resign if no-call no-show for three consecutive days. (Not advised)

If you want to get laid off you can wait. Or score low on your annual review to move to the front of the layoff line.

First, find out who your HR rep is. Start there. Email the HR email address, they will give you the name of the person, and then call and/or email your HR rep. Talk to them about what you want to do, the fact that your boss is OOO, and ask for their advice on next steps. After that, email your boss that you're resigning.

Be professional. Send your boss an email and/or voicemail saying you are resigning. Call HR to find out who your rep is and tell them. Email works too. You need to give back things: badge, laptop, credit card if applicable. Don’t just leave without notification. They will get back you. One last note: once you notify, stay home. They’ll get in touch.
