Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

People are coming into the office sick again

Seriously just let people stay home if they need to. It makes no sense forcing people to come in 3 days a week to spread germs during flu season

How many times did I just read, “how do you know if you’re sick” this just shows how uneducated we are about our own bodies and have outsourced our own health, intelligence and wellbeing to Rockefellers dr-g salespeople. Y’all need to wake up quick. “Symptoms” as we were taught are expressions of of your body healing. Do not interfere with the process. Give your body what it needs to heal (as it was DESIGNED to do) then get out of your own way. Rest is key to recovery.

Man- y’all must have some horrible managers. If I feel bad , have a cough or whatever whatever I just let my manager know that I’ll be working from home for the next few days. Are y’all really saying your managers make you come in if you’re sick? No wonder so many on here same to hate this place. That’s just terrible!

There is a lot of open space on these floors. Just find an open office or meeting room and post up in there. Truthfully most people that have to go in don’t even have members of their team in their same office, so if all they care about is badging in who cares if you sit next to anyone all day.

Hotel seating - move if you feel you are sitting too close to the infected. We all know there are plenty of open seats.

What if there's no afterlife? What if this is it?

The point is that it is tough to define what’s sick and what can be worked through.

At some point, we have to work through coughs and sniffles.

There’s a correlation between number of days missed and laziness.

Wouldn't being sick be a reason? Aren't there still signs on doors saying if you feel unwell, or are coughing or sneezing, or have a fever, don't enter the building!.

That being said, I know some groups are strong believers no matter what the cost. I personally have a great boss, and people up the chain who would much rather have people keep their germs to themselves. I also work with people who don't abuse it either though.

How do you determine if you are “sick”? Is it only if you are contagious? Is it merely having a cough or sneezing? Do you have to take a test for every kind of virus? What if you are showing no symptoms like Typhoid Mary? What if it is allergies?

I don’t get it. I never call in sick. Why does everyone act like it’s mandatory to call in sick at least once a month?

Wells needs to offer either unlimited sick days or else give another 5-10 sick days per year like many other better run organizations. WTF would I waste a PTO (aka vacation day) for no reason? Not a chance. If my clown of a manager won’t allow me to WFH I’m coming in and hacking up a lung right next to him all day. Hope he brings it home to his family.

Amen. A lot of these powder puff employees wouldn’t have fared well in the Rockefeller/Carnegie days.

I'm 3 day a week - our group tracks RTO and boss will want a reason if you miss a single day - so if I'm sick - I'm still doing 3 days - this is how we do it now - sorry - but rules is rules...

Reasonable approach, but a lot of people aren't colocated with their manager, so enforcement is a challenge. Also, more than half the country is now immunocompromised, so expect to see a lot more people staying home due to various infections and illnesses.

Because you have two going on: They don't care and people abuse the system.

It should be a simple solution among adults.

Employees who are sick should take PTO, or work from home if feeling well enough to do so.

If someone is obliviously abusing this WFH option, managers should have a talk to determine what’s going on and begin disciplinary action if appropriate. My guess is that such an employee has additional less-than-ideal behaviors.

Anyone who comes in to the office sick should be sent home by their manager in order to protect the rest of his/her department. If the manager doesn’t want to send a sick employee home, employee sits right next to the manager.

If you’ve used up all your PTO, abused the WFH option, and are sick: you get sent home no pay.

If the team members come to work sick, they should be cited. How about something like, three strikes you’re out. That’s one thing I hated about going to the office during the winter time. They all sounded like a choir of coughers.
