Frustrating micromanagement

My boss is not able to trust employees at all. He just wastes his time standing over everyone's shoulder. What is the point of spending so much time on things that others are hired for? I absolutely hate it, it frustrates me and is pushing me out the door.

This is a normal with some managers in jpmorgan; Having worked for a long time, there are some directors you should steer away. They micro manage every single task.

This was a small factor when I left the bank earlier this year. I was there 25+ years and knew more than my manger and his team lead combined x5. I was always open to help them learn or show them something they didn't know, all they had to do was ask. But when they'd hover around me having a 'conversation' and bu-t into my work when they heard me chatting with a customer - that's when I figured out what they were up to. my bottom line around there: don't throw shade - just ask.

to build on 2wrr's comment, they overhired and your boss wants to make sure you can't take his or her job (insecure people are micromanagers)

Probably cause they overstaffed and they want to know who is doing work vs who isn't.
