Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Twitter. Take note Nike

Twitter’s employees (and users and advertisers) are setting a new precedent against toxic leadership and workplaces.

The world’s richest man bought it for $44B and laid off half its 7,500 employees with zero gratitude or dignity. He thought he could bully those left. Instead, 1,200 people and counting have resigned rather than work for an as----e. Sound familiar?

I wonder what it’s market cap is now? Oh wait, Musk took it private fearing investors and media so who knows.

Nike has done worse for a lot longer.

I hope the LT is paying attention.

Comparing Twitter and Nike? LOL.

Twitter has been around all of 16 years and doesn’t make any physical products. People kind of need shoes and apparel. Nobody particularly needs a social media platform. Many of us would even argue the world is a worse place because those platforms exist.

As for people quitting, it’s much easier to do that in the San Francisco job market than the Portland job market. It’s not like Portland has 100 other large and well paying companies willing and able to scoop up a few thousand employees next week.

So no, Twitter is not a cautionary tale for Nike. Not even close, really.

Really no comparison here, and Nike has not done worse for much longer.

Possibly the most mo--nic message I’ve ever see here… Yeah, 1000’s people are going to walk out of one of the best companies on the planet with the best environment and amenities available. Guess they’ll be walking into all those new jobs being created in the market in 2024?
