Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Stupid

Let us take labor away from the stores. You know, the whole reason we’re in business. Meanwhile, GVPs watch Netflix and take naps. Genius. So much winning.

"Well I sure hope you didn’t quit based on EK’s “alleged” history at CVS. Has nothing to do with Follett."

So someone's history at past employment has nothing to do with how they may perform at their current job? Nothing at all? So I have just been filling in my work history and passing out references on every job application all my life for -no- reason at all? Dang.

Well I sure hope you didn’t quit based on EK’s “alleged” history at CVS. Has nothing to do with Follett. But alas, good luck to you.

No, I was aware of this as soon as EK was hired. Quit because of these major cutbacks and extra demands. RMs can’t help worth a cr-p and not willing to ki-l myself for this company

What exactly does a GVP do?

Eat cold eels and think distant thoughts...

Experienced SM here. I gave my notice today. Told my RM I was looking and they called my bluff. I’m not much to the company but I value myself more than what they are showing. Especially with EK s*xual allegations, coverups and dismissal at CVS. It’s obvious nothing is going to change until I make a change. May the odds be ever in your favor to those that can’t leave

To the consumer, labor is the only value add follett sells. Cut that and you have a vending machine.

GVPs consume an enormous amount of capital resources with little to no return. High salaries, company cars, large budgets, expensive air travel, rental cars, expensive hotel stays, and expensive meals ( to name a few). They have big egos and feel that they are making important contributions. But are they? The question should be - if you converted some of the $ that GVPs consume towards payroll and improved tools for customer facing associates that enhance our customers experience, and ultimately sales $, wouldn’t this improve our company’s profitability and relevance in our market place?

I don't know all GVPs but I will say the one for my region before I left would put in the work. He came from a store though, he knows what it is like. I think they need to trim the fat in the rungs higher than GVPs. If you look at the org chart, there are so many SVPs and VPs that it seems ridiculous.

“What exactly does a GVP do?”

Seriously? Instead of asking here, why don’t you ask one?

What exactly does a GVP do? I'm being serious here because there are so many. I get that we're a very large company, but there are regional managers that actually do the grunt work. So what exactly does a GVP do? Do they go into the stores and help us on the registers? No! Do they visit schools that are up for contract and try to finesse their way into a new one? No! That's left up to the store managers and the RMs. What do they do?
