In my area, we have a new (poor) leader who refuses to let our team know that certain individuals have been eliminated. Instead, this person talks at team meetings about how successful the team is and will do great things in the future while those 2 laid off individuals endure listening to the wonderful endeavors that abound in the future. I've never experienced anything like this before in my career. Just wondering if this is just another humana toxic norm or a fabulous extra my teammate(s) and I get to experience before this horror show finally ends.

I was told that I'm being laid off but to continue working as usual. I joined a team meeting the following day and they said who was being laid off. It was very very awkward
Stating specifically who was laid off might be a legal issue, but not letting people how it impacts work assignments is both insane and poor leadership...also not addressing with the remaining team that "hey, our team is safe this round, we don't expect any further cuts" is just asking for people to jump ship because you are always going to think you are next...you have to provide finality and a plan moving forward or you invite chaos and your top people to leave...

Sounds to me like humana has lost the human element to being a decent company. You know, empathy, caring, compassion (what is claimed to be core values). And right before the holidays. It's all disgusting to me.
Due to privacy concerns leaders cannot divulge who has been let go. It is up to the individuals to announce. Some may not want others to know their business. They may be embarrassed or angry or what have you. It is 100% the leader’s role to maintain optimism and keep morale up. It’s their JOB! Leaders risk their own jobs by divulging info about employees. Most leaders will say tough choices were made and that’s all they can say.
The leads have been told to not say anything, and those laid off can’t say anything until they sign the paperwork because if certain things are discussed they risk losing severance. Also, historically, on teams where I have been part of Rifs,the lead would not speak for those impacted, they would speak for themselves. Currently, on my team, some teammates have sent emails to the team as a whole to say they were impacted
My spouse's team was not cut, but the teams they worked with were decimated...and yet they have not heard a peep...from anyone...just business as "normal". As a manager in a completely different industry, I'm just stunned that this is "OK".
I think it’s like this across the company. To not know who has been let go, including in situations where it may impact our work, is baffling and unacceptable. Is this our new norm? Why the secrecy?
