Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

VGS

Has anyone heard if leadership is looking at eventually outsourcing VGS? Many of the departments falling under this new organization are being outsourced in other companies so wondering if anyone thinks outsourcing VGS is Verizon's long term strategy.

Yes of course - that is the goal.

Step 1: Consolidation
Step 2: Redundancy Analysis
Step 3: Headcount Right Sizing
Step 4: Gap Analysis after Right Sizing
Step 5: Fill gaps with Outsourcing

This is basically what the deck I saw in a shared drive said.

First they will reduce workforce to consolidate and eliminate redundancies and work that is not necessary. Then they will look to see what remaining functions can be outsourced. You can bet on it.

People keep blaming WFH when people have been working remotely with coworkers, managers, other teams, vendors, and/or customers for decades. If they can save money, keep quality to a meager level, follow regulations, and not worry about it being used against them theyll do anything to cut costs.

Everyone wanted to WFH. All that did was make it easier for them to outsource everything now cause nobody has an eye on the calls. Get back to the office and straighten this company out.

Where it makes sense, it will be outsourced/off-shored. Don't bet on that not happening.

I don’t think so. There’s opportunities to run things much better with key employee teams vs multiple outsources. Also, lots of room to cull management who oversee outsourcing. It’s my hope but we’ll see…
