Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

There are very few good managers here

Maybe I wouldn't even think about leaving if I had a more competent manager. However, I no longer want to work for a person with an over-inflated ego. Basically, a good manager seems to be a rarity here? Does anyone actually have one?

Managers are selected by director or above because they're friend not because they qualify and those are the ones that are clock watchers and micros and most of all a--holes. Does not matter how hard and how good you work, they've made a decision to enjoy the small power they have over you. Wasn't like this long ago

I have a great manager actually. It's the first manager I've had at Schwab that is actually a people manager and not just an extension of the team doing project work.

I actually do have a great manager that fights for us but also challenges us to be better. I have a very high performing team and he is a huge part of that. That said, I don’t think this problem is isolated to Schwab the country is suffering from a lack of good leaders.

There are very few good managers. That is because the managers are almost all mostly excellent managers.

My manager was a mo--n too if I did not know something, I would ask them their reply google it.. Really google it WOW!! He is now gone but left a wake of destruction behind. Reviews coming up and now I find out that I am on probation. New Mgr said I should have been on a plan to watch my progress, so wait this is my fault because the previous Mgr was a complete id--t... WOW the only reason the new mgr looked at my personnel file is because I requested my Sabbatical which was denied. CS has really gone down the tubes. I am sure I will get the ax in 2023. I say it is what it is. Hopeful on to bigger and better things with a better run company.

Totally agree. Current manager is a complete mo--n and dings me for small things while I hold the team together…

I left because my manager was not a fighter for employee (career and pay growth). Not sure what he was to be honest.
