Several year ago Humana gave early retirement to those close to retirement age. It seemed to be a successful strategy and a win/win situation. Why didn't they do that this time? There are plenty at retirement age or close to it. This could have saved so many jobs.

@gpr+1jFdwIKP What department are you in?
It’s the same thing if you early retire, 2 weeks for every year, option to cobra.
We have someone who was part of that crowd and got the “early retirement”
However, our department was pushed to 2023 for any changes. Not sure why
I dunno if asking why not X or Y matters. They did what they did. We all have to pick up and move ahead, whether we were impacted or not. Whole thing stinks.
It may have been offered to select oriole in certain areas. But it wasn’t an option for everyone and likely won’t be again. They lost too much talent. They want more control to avoid that situation happening again.
Depending where the people were retiring from, maybe not…for example, if the IT department was being let go, and a nurse retired, that wouldn’t bring back an IT worker, if they weren’t needed
