Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Jewelry

Corporate made a huge mistake when they did away with the dedicated jewelry associate. Our jewelry dept. is a hot mess. So many mistakes being made on a daily basis and then there is the misinformation given to the members. Nobody is trained properly. Too many hands in the cookie jar so to speak. Audits are a pain to get done. Claimed out items are allowed to sit for months before they are processed and sent to wherever they are supposed to go. Thoughts please....

Wow, didn't know this was a true club issue. Since all the changes and department closures, our accounting office is now storage for jewelry. From new shipment, current stock, code 2's not reversed and jewelry no longer in the system. Management always pointing fingers at each regarding who is in control and associates not trained properly. H/O made these changes for more member interactions giving all responsibilities to the Leads. After all, "That is why they make the big bucks?" as quoted by our then GM. There are many costly errors that can be avoided with proper department teams we once had. I have tried to offer ideas. Guess the ideas were not H/O approved,

I cannot even get my audits done in a timely fashion with having to run back and forth to the front end and help out. This is ridiculous. Corporate needs to reinstate the dedicated jewelry person. I deal with issues on a regular basis from members who are given bad information regarding whether or not the ring they want to buy can be sized or not. Then there is the issue of the IGI cards not being given out. I end up putting out fires all the time that have been caused by people who do not know what they are doing because they are not trained properly. Who has the time to cross train in jewelry? Nobody corporate. If you are not going to do what is right, then do away with there department all together.

More for less. The Sams Club way. If it's not broke, we will break it. They NEVER listen to the associates who know the most efficient way to do the job. They just pipe-dream something up and decide that would be a great idea. When in reality it's a bad and time wasting disaster.

I agree. Our clubs, the front end takes care of jewelry , mostly a COS. During the holidays it is hard for us to get there to help a member. Floor associates, mostly don’t know where the stock is and don’t have time to sort through the bags of overstock that aren’t out for sale . Like book, either staff someone to take care of it or get rid of it

before I left there I was made to do a jewelry audit 2 or 3 times in the AM before open WHILE also being the morning forklifter ! Count a case then run and drop something . Count a few more then drop something. I was expected to get the audit done and all dropping and racking by club open.... Then when I found mistakes from audit the time before i did it I was questioned why there was a difference ! SOOOOO glad I am no longer there....
