Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

Call center cost restructuring to hit within 6 months.

Was told today that the three lowest performing centers are closing in 2023, new centers are opening in lower cost areas to offset costs. Don’t end up a layoff statistic.

T-Mobile will NOT call this a layoff because they are going to close these higher cost Call Centers and tell everyone to move to the lower cost one 1500 miles away, however no one is going to move across the country for a $20.00 an hour job so everyone will effectively get laid off WITHOUT an official layoff, it's actually brilliant and exactly how Mikey operates.

That's what's happened in other areas of the company. People who thought their jobs were secure in Bellevue have been laid off and replaced by people in Overland Park, where the cost of living is 20% lower, meaning wages are 20% lower.

I quit T-Mobile 3 weeks ago. One of the last meetings I was in was about call center cost restructuring, specifically closing low performing centers. Don’t trust this company, after all of the people they have turned their backs on and laid off recently, they will stab you in your back. Use your head and plan accordingly, don’t end up one of the jobless people when the economy is bad like this.

T-Mobile is opening a new lower cost call center in Rochester, it’s not a coincidence that it comes in the wake of talks about closing call higher cost centers and moving the jobs to low cost areas, it’s just another decision T-Mobile has made that drove people like me to quit. I got sick of seeing my friends get ruined by this company.

This is completely untrue. No call centers are being closed. Yes, Rochester is opening up, but T-Mobile made that commitment in 2019 when the Sprint merger was in play. Some of you are LITERALLY making sh-t up.

Someone else posted about this recently and I commented on that one too.

I am part of the leadership team in Colorado and have heard our site director warn us about the lease not renewing, they said that unless site performance increased that they would just close our site and move the jobs to a lower wage area. I heard recently new sites were opening on the east coast so I’m starting to believe that it’s not a bluff anymore.

Colorado Springs office is done, stick a fork in it. They have been warned about poor performance for years. Time to pony up and pay the piper.
