Did anyone get an email (saying not to forward) but when they joined were told they were keeping their jobs and that their area was impacted?

Wow. I couldn’t imagine hearing from my VP that our roles were safe and having a sense of relief, and then later being completely blindsided by a RIF. That seems so cruel.
Yes, we received that email. A bit unnerving as you didn't know that was the intent of the meeting invite.
We got an email from our VP a month ago saying that we were good. Then yesterday we found out that some of us weren’t good.
Our team got an email (no meeting invite) telling us basically that.
