Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Cheap workforce

What really interests me is whether the leadership really thinks that a cheaper workforce will solve all the problems that this company has. Because that's how it seems now, as if all the disadvantages of a cheaper workforce are being ignored!?
Maybe they care, but they obviously don't take it seriously that once damage has been done, it's difficult to attract quality staff again.

Reality is, the people at the top know perfectly well that Oracle is going under at some point. The attempt to reduce costs simply makes things look OK for a little longer. It gives the execs something to do. They get bonuses, I'm sure, when they think of ways to cut costs. They are rewarded for that, not for stabilizing the company, or hiring great people. They are rewarded for thinking of ways to cut costs, so that's what they do. It's as simple as that.

There is no one planning for the future or putting much thought into anything. It's just a stack of execs, incentivized by the people at the top, who know the company is going down but want to slow that as much as possible, to reduce costs as much as possible.

That's all it is. No one planning or caring about much of anything else. Management of the fire on-board the ship to make sure it spreads very slowly. Not much thought there.

Workload is getting extreme for the capable people who are left. They are required to carry the load of all the useless d-mbed down oracle staff. Soon they will be gone. People want to work with other smart people. Not political sycophants who steal credit from anyone they can and are promoted to SVP because management can’t tell the difference.

Oracle always values cheap over good with staffing.

It’s the only option they have. All the good people left for greener pastures and they are simply abusing any knowledge still hanging around. Nobody domestic or good overseas has any interest. Train wreck
