Hey all,
Trying to get a pay increase. What’s the best way. Took over manager responsibilities due to him leaving. My team is running very thin now as we still haven’t been able to hire another due to the freeze. I’m only asking to get up to the max of what my position was offered for originally.

I notice that many IC3s and IC4s and even IC5s haven't been promoted and given a raise in 15-20 years, basically since they joined the company. But there are others that joined around the same time or 10 years ago, and yet get promoted within 3-4 years and go on to management? Why is there such a discrepancy?
Leave Oracle. Then come back. Significant raise compared to staying put.
"Please help me, I want more money. My boss was RIFd, how can I get the money he was paid, and more?"
Thanks for being a pinhead.
“ You could get an offer from another company and ask Oracle to match it “
They couldn’t match my 40% raise!
Don’t listen to the comment below this one. You’re not doing anything wrong by asking this question. I’m sure there are people suffering, but you didn’t put them in that situation and there’s no reason to take on more responsibility without being curious about increased compensation. In the end the only thing you can do is worry about yourself, nothing classless about that.
I’d even go so far to argue that this is a good place to ask questions like that, where else are you going to get questions answered with the brutal honesty of anonymity?
What a bozo! Really, you asking for advice on a LAYOFF board about to get more money in the job inherited because someone else left, possibly under duress or perhaps was RIFd himself?
Some people like this one have no class whatsoever. There are RIFd Oracle people who are suffering, and they could care less about this guy wanting to get more money for himself.
You could get an offer from another company and ask Oracle to match it. But at that point, it sounds like you'd rather escape the misery and just jump to the other company. I wonder if anyone has gotten a raise by threatening to sue Oracle because they harass employees with their woke D&I nonsense.
I just asked for one under kind of similar circumstances. My thinking was either I get it (win), I don’t (same as before), or I become a target for layoffs and get severance (win).
Is this a joke?
Are you suffering from the Oracle Doormat Principle?
If so, you might not be entitled to compensation.
They are laying off high cost and very skilled resources. Person who got IC5 in last qtr showed the way out this time. IC4s are stuck in same position without any pay raise and promotion for the last 10 yrs or more. What a cr-p place to be.
Good luck. As Anonymous (Post ID: @btx+1jABNCjb) said: "Be careful what you ask for, like the guy who revived a promotion and raise in September, and laid off in November,"
I had finally gotten my raise and promotion and then RIF'ed. In addition, I know of one guy (he knows one of their main sellers by heart) who hasn't gotten a raise in YEARS. I've no doubt he's paid well, but it kinda puts a damper on things.
Best way to get a pay increase? Leave! Go to the competition!
A friend of mine picked up a 40% raise.
Be careful what you ask for, like the guy who revived a promotion and raise in September, and laid off in November,

If you find out how, tell us!
