What are the chances of more layoffs before the end of the year? I'm convinced that we're safe for now but some of my coworkers are convinced it's only a matter of weeks before another major round is announced. I hope I'm not an id--t for believing we're safe, but I'm too tired of being constantly worried.

“Anyone who is still choosing to remain at Oracle and put up with having to worry over when the axe will fall next has only themself to blame. WHY are you doing this to yourself?“
People have their own personal circumstances that we are in no place to judge. Maybe they’re having trouble finding the next job and can’t afford to be unemployed during this cost of living crisis. Or maybe they feel they have to put up with a couple more months of anxiety and get a severance package instead of just walking away with nothing. Your solution is simple but it’s not easy and doesn’t always happen overnight. You’re right though they deserve better.

You deserve better than having to constantly worry about your job status. Oracle is on the outs and will never become a top player in Cloud. Commit yourself to moving on. I left Oracle several years ago and it’s been the best decision of my career.
Let’s remember Oracle is also made up of other division that do not make any money for the firm. RE&F / EHS at risk.. Scary times for us living in the unknown swamp while trying to find new jobs.. We may not make money, but we do keep the buildings running and safe.
- Likely more let go at the end of CloudWorld as Oracle probably tries to combine that event with SuiteWorld.
- Anything not named ERP, OCI, or Cerner is at risk. Make money or be cut. Oracle is a healthcare company that also happens to sell SaaS solutions and hardware. All that legacy stuff is on the way out eventually no matter how many licensing dollar’s SC and LJE can squeeze.
- Aria still makes no sense. If you’re in marketing, make sure your role makes money or drives pipeline. If it doesn’t, Hatchet Man will cut you.
The chance of layoffs depends on what org/team you are on. How about providing more info on your role?
Chances?
Pretty high!
You can breath a sigh of relief if we make it to October 16th, but Oracle will still let people go in December!
