Thread regarding 3M layoffs

How do they sleep at night?

Honestly how can the CIO be such a cold bast4rd? Anyone staying at 3M in TTS that isn’t already cut should be running for the door. These cuts are going to keep coming. Mark has no plans, and certainly doesn’t care about anything or anyone but himself.

Employees and leaders who got out are throwing around huge base increases at their new companies and pulling top talent at the rate of a hot dog eating champion chomping down those dogs. Employees are finding out 3M didn’t keep their top level salaries over the years and heading out the door at an alarming rate.

The losing crowd seems to be those without degrees who may be stuck to ride it out because they want their pension and will struggle to get new jobs outside. Most have a few years and have been pen that they are splitting out of there as soon as they can; clambering to “hit that button.”

Freezing pension would create a fascinating scenario. Wonder how many will cut their losses now instead of risk it. This round of employees is dropping stock fast. Will retention bonuses go out next? Earn some nice interest and bail when the underground network gives the signal? They are smart employees over there.

Murphdog over in TTS has been wielding a slaying sword during his time thus far. If I’m him, I’m runnin’. Then again, the golden handcuffs of his comp package are probably as red as my stock.

One would think humble places of his past and main reasons for work hiatus previous to 3M would lead to humble beginnings but maybe he signed up to be a fall guy and sleeps just fine.

For most senior executives, it is business as usual. Forget about not sleeping, they don't even bat an eyelid when making such decisions.

Initially it bothers them, as it should for every human being with a conscience, but multiple years of " corporate training" prepares you to think about layoffs as just another number ( e.g, cost savings of $ 50 million, rather than thinking about the human cost of a layoff).

They sleep calmly, with fat paychecks in the bank account. Did you think it was going to be anything different? Always surprised by these meaningless rhetorical questions.
