Larry and Safra need a exit strategy to cash out, it’s as simple as that. The alignment to Microsoft and LinkedIn is a strategic move much like Cerner. The only way for them to cash out is to merge or be acquired. It’s possible it could be Google as well. Could do the entire acquisition in stock for either.
If you need to clean a billion out of expenses it’s pretty easy to do. You need a third party to look at the org structure and can eliminate a lot of waste without impacting projects. Safra’s department is bloated, could easily remove 10k of personal and it would not cause any impact. That’s up to Oracle to figure out the right formula but there is a lot of waste here. Look at the org chart, there are people that manage or direct no one or very few. You have several who basically are directors of the parking lot. Cutting teams is one way to do it especially if you have a acquisition or merger that will replace the product or products.
We have VP’s, Directors, Managers, multiple levels of direction. This is failing, the guy that sets the direction should be held accountable regardless if it’s Budget, Sales, Development or Customer satisfaction. We only do what comes down from the top.
Oracle has cut very talented individuals, not all of them but a good size group. Young talented low paid IDC talent. Some were exceptional, unfortunately Oracle will never get them back. I can tell you with 100% confidence some of these people were 5’s in Oracle performance review.
So they have a month to apply and get accepted. That part makes no sense. NetSuite and OCI are actively hiring. Why not move them before the cut? Those who do find jobs do you expect loyalty from them or does that even matter? This part is appalling, people scurrying and begging for jobs.
I do care that extremely talented individuals were let go and not moved to other orgs that desperately need them. Oracle has made these people beg and find another position. You really think there will be loyalty? These people should of been given raises instead they were eliminated. Sorry to say but you and Larry make billions and just sh-t all over the employees like cattle going to a sl------r house.
Selling this to Microsoft because your stock price has been below market value for years. HR sucks, yes sucks and if you need two or three HR people on a zoom call for one termination there is a problem, it’s a joke. They are the most useless bunch I’ve seen. No answers and no follow up. Recruiting sucks worst. You do there job for them, wasteful resources. Read a script and setup the employee in a fictitious meeting. Do you think these people are that naive? HR you can eliminate 3/4 of them, recruiting all of them, finance 1/2, dev management is bloated, legal bloated.
Clock is ticking and the hatchet man comes if these is a billion that needs to be eliminated, the Aug cut was only about 100 million..
