Thread regarding Norfolk Southern Corp. layoffs

Unions selling us out

As usual, three unions sell the rest of us out. They split early from the bargaining coalition to announce that they were accepting the peb recommendations. Now everyone else in the coalition will have no chance of making changes. Rail unions are useless. It is time to dump them and form one rail union for all crafts.

Vote no all you want. They’ll just do like they did in the past. Just keep putting back up for a vote until it miraculously passes. Just like school levy. Good luck.

The recommendation is not as good as it seems. Also, this contract is going to expire in a few years. Does that mean in six months negotiations for the next contract will be initiated? We all know the answer to that one. It will be another several years just like the one we are living now. Vote no and be proud to make a stand.

I'll be voting NO and I encourage every other BRC member to vote NO. I refuse to take less than I deserve. We have made the hedge fund investors rich. If management has the money to pay the investors who contributed nothing to profits, they have the money to properly compensate the people who made every dollar that was passed on to the investors. Beyond wages and benefits, there's also the matter of very little time off that can be used as needed on short notice and no sick pay. There's no real penalty for forced overtime and no real mechanism to markoff for legitimate reasons without inviting discipline. Over all, a real s--t burger.

I'm suprised that 3 Unions would approve a tentative agreement with only 2 days of discussion with the Carriers on the details of the PEB recommendation. Without going back to the PEB for clarification on several issues. Even with a me too agreement, how do you explain the agreement to the membership and answer their questions and expect them to vote for passage of the agreement.
This is the first time for these Lead Negotiators at this level, just saying!!!
