Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Is A "Ford Internal Security" team active here?

As a person let go in this layoff, I found the frequent negative and judgmental labeling of those let go as (e.g. "slackers", "deserved to be laid off", "unwilling to change", "difficult to work with", "poor performance", etc.) to be very painful.

Anyone going thru this is going to have some self-doubts and reflect on what happened. It got me to thinking, are all of us selected, bad employees? Why was I given good reviews then? Nobody ever told me I was difficult or unwilling to change. It makes no sense?

Suddenly, a thought occurred to me! What if the people posting these types of comments while giving internal information only a Ford employee would know, are not rank and file employees but instead are people assigned by Ford to justify the layoff by blaming the people let go? Does that sound absurd? Well, it turns out that this company has a history of hiring "special" people who's job it is, to deal with employees (current or striking) who makes trouble for Ford Motor Company. Go search for "Harry Bennett" and "Ford Service Department" (LOL not service for vehicles!). You make up your mind but so much trolling and negativity on EVERY POST is suspicious. It reminds me of the obvious Russian trolls who post negativity on Ukrainian war videos showing victories against Russia.

I challenge any person who has these negative views about those let go to PROVE HERE, how you KNOW those laid off were let go for the reasons you give.

To the person asking if they can get their personal contacts from their laptop… before returning your laptop ask if there is someone who can help you get your contacts. If you don’t know who to ask contact your most recent people leader. It’s a reasonable request and being told no is the worst that could happen.

Don't worry
Lots of X Fords work at competitive car makers.
WE WILL Put Ford Out of Business.
They will not post anything like that after.

I have a question that might be covered here or in other strings. First I know I should have prepared just in case.... unfortunately I wasn't. Does anyone know if I were to take my laptop in personally instead of send it, would I be able to have someone just give my my personal contacts only that I kept on my email page? Thank you.

I certainly understand questioning yourself after being let go. I was let go during SRD and it knocked me back for a short time. I had always received great reviews and positive feedback and had been promoted into management. I was cooperative and didn’t complain. Every time I moved to a new project it was because a manager in the new team requested me. When I was let go I started to question myself and wondered if I had been a lower performer and no one had the heart to tell me. After hearing some of the names of others who were let my confidence started to return as many of those people were brilliant and very respected. The same applies to those I know who were let go last week. I don’t pretend to know how the departed were selected but based on the people I knew well it was not because they deserved it.

Some people enjoy kicking others when they’re down. Don’t pay attention to them because they’re damaged in some way and it makes them feel “better” than others and convinces them that it could never happen to them as they don’t deserve it. If you must think about your past, think about your successes. You’ll have more success in the future and in time this will be just another story you can tell about overcoming a difficult situation. Best of luck, I wish you the best.

Yes, you figured it out and caught me.

I monitor this site and all the other 1000's of sites out there. Then we (Ford ) gather the most negative posts we can find (based on our IP address and all social media accounts) then categorize them on a spread sheet by employee and number of posts.

Then we have a seat in the star chamber and discuss the results and the severance packages for those selected. The entire process started in 2000 and we have finally closed the this chapter and now we start again.

I can attest that the people let go in our org were on the whole, great at their jobs, super productive and team players. It was just numbers and who could be offshored. These people implying they deserved it are just cruel and wrong.

The greatest hypocrisy in life is that in the engineering world, we destroy, remake, discard or eliminate out of spec applications when it comes to engineering practices.

However, in the real world, out of spec talent is offered a phrase called "affirmative action", completely out of spec, untalented, and often unusable in any efficient way, yet we allow for it. Heck sometimes we place it on a pedestal and push it as the new narrative.

And we wonder why things don't work out well.

If you hire "D" rated candidates or lower, how can you reasonably expect "A+" results?

Looks like the rate down doesn't agree with equal rights, opportunity, and fair hiring practices.

That comes across as so minority, and untalented of you. Did you acquire your position by affirmative action as well? Couldn't quit make the cut without it?

You had me at female chief engineer. And while I can believe there are many qualified female counterparts, I can speak from first hand experience across an entire career, certain types of people with certain body parts, get hired as token hires only, ONLY, and only because of minority privilege. If affirmative action wasn't a thing, then people would be hired solely upon talent and nothing more. The ideal hiring process would be in a blind interview contest, unseen to those hiring, with all voices muffled among those interviewing. Fair is fair across all genders, religion, race, and skin colors.

Now tell me why that doesn't happen?

Glad to know you all can be so verbal with so many words.
Picking scabs in management requires that.

Thanks for all the kind words, I will be fine. I'm close enough to 65 that I can soon get Medicare which means not $1000 a month cobra while unemployed and I have money saved. Plus, this is my second layoff in my career and now I know what to do, I have a plan and am executing it. I already have two interviews and as I was only 2 years at Ford, my skill set (SW Development) is current and should hold up well in interviews (I hope).

But I am concerned about some of the younger engineers with families, especially kids who have never been thru this before and who possibly have been 15+ years at Ford which means their skills to go on the job market might come up short. I hope everyone who does not have a plan, will get help. Having a plan brings control and control is what one needs to be strong and get thru this. Good luck to all and God bless!

There are also formerly Ford employees who have a general concern for the company. Some are now retired, some took a package out in recent years and some were going to retire or leave the company anyway. I’m sure some trolls too that have never worked for the company. When I was employed I had absolutely no control over what the company did or decisions they made. I

There are a lot of Ford outsiders writing in this blog just to have fun getting people irritated.
at the formerly know TDE, most if not all of the people fired were the best in their position. After SRD and combined with WFH, most managers and chief engineers do not know their employees and for LL's who played musical chairs a name just became just that a name w/o face. I can vouch for all of those who were fired, no slackers, very hard workers but unfortunately just a name for Chief Engineer and Director who signed the list of those going out.
There were some people who should have gone (Kutcha, Kane, Kinch, Mayer, Patke, etc.) too but they are linked to Filipe or Gardner or Kennedy and they were allowed to stay. Others w/o such connections were let go (Daniel, Stout, Davies, Hassel, Gordon, Vrek, etc.) It was a beauty contest among highly professional individuals were those orphans were fired w/o taking in account their contribution to Ford.
If you work for Ford you can CDSID the names listed and if you know people from formerly know TDE they can confirm the names of those who should have gone too.
Interestingly to note is that back in March several engineers w/less qualifications than those who were fired were transferred to LTP VDTP FCSD Reman, many of those who should be let go instead of most of the ones recently fired.
The tears of the Chief Engineer are just theatrical, she feels nothing and care even less. Her reputation as an engineers was never good and as a "people leader" totally non-existent. One of those w/30 years in service who survived the cut, go figure

Karma is a real bi---h and everyone reaps what they sow. Ignore the mo--ns who don't even have the basic decency to be supportive when someone is going through tough times, can only feel pity for those desperate lowlives. You don't have to prove your worth to anyone, you know what you are capable of, good luck for the next phase of your journey

Also, these trolls can be people you were laid off in the previous rounds and are still holding the grudge against the company or feeling good that more people were affected.

I think there’s just a lot of people that post here to have some fun with the situation. We call them trolls, but they’re just online to eff with people, just liked they get effed with when things happen to them. Some don’t mean much by it, and some do for whatever reason.

Whatever you read, just take it with a grain of salt. Don’t take anything anyone posts personally. I mean think about it. Do you really remember anything anyone posted about a month ago, a year ago, or a decade ago? It’s all noise, and irrelevant to your life.
