Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Non-Certification (AZ-900)

We're being told that we must become "Cloud Certified" this year. The dates change depending on what manager is talking, but the bottom line is that we're being asked to study for, take, and pass at least one formal exam that deals with "cloud".

I don't work in "cloud". I have no interest in "cloud". My job has nothing to do with it, and I would not seek a position that does. I have no intention of burning my ever-shrinking off-duty family time to study for and take this certification exam just so I can be a single tick in some manager's goal.

Anybody else in the same situation...? Seems that there are, but people are keeping quiet.

Layoff implications...?

What will management do to retaliate against people like us...?

What can they actually do if we refuse to do all this extracurricular work...?

I was on the phone the other day with someone in Tech Connection who was helping with a laptop problem. We were chatting and he indicated that he had to get the cert done by end of year, but did not expect to ever use it.

Don't know what they can do legally from an employment law perspective. They're on thin ice on this one.

My guess is that they'll reduce you on your performance rating, but for some OTHER stated reason. At the end of the day it would chop your bonus.
