Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Is there going to be a merit cycle?

Now that it is Q1 anyone know if there's going to be a merit cycle? Are raises going to be given even if only cr---y ones? If so when do managers let everyone know?

The merit budget is different depending on your country location.

5 years of 5-10% pay rises and the business was failing. No S***!

So people are saying that other companies are giving out 10+% raises now to keep up with inflation?

Any actual evidence of example of this, as it seems unlikely ...

@1uof+1injiaPy I worked for a few other companies but only one of them for any length of time. We‘ll call that company Company X. Company X gave me 8-12% raises year over year that substantially added up for the five years I was there. However, the last year I was there the business was failing and I left for Cisco.

Most places I've worked prior to Cisco did automatic pay increase to keep up with inflation. They weren't considered raises, just part of keeping business running.

We had raises every 2-4 years that were more substantial.

@1qhx+1injiaPy have you worked anywhere other than Cisco? Most companies give COLA raises every year by default. Any raise above inflation is for performance.

The merit cycle is right now. If you're looking at 3% raises then you're doing it wrong.

People shouldn't expect a raise to meet the level of inflation (name me a company that does that). They should expect it for great performance.

I recently left Cisco for a 50% raise. This was after I busted my a-s to save the company about 7 million dollars in a single year.

For years, Cisco rewarded my exemplary performance by giving me raises that didn’t keep pace with inflation. In fact, when you accounted for inflation, my salary was down several percent. Despite a grade increase I received. A few months before I left, I asked for a 20% raise that would put me on par with the industry average. I was told it couldn’t happen and the best I could hope for was 10%. I left inside of three months.

Time and time again in my career I’ve learned that you can’t sit around waiting for corporations to do the right thing by their employees. Their track record is just too poor to live at their mercy.

Sc--w Cisco, sc--w CR, sc--w V2Momma and sc--w fake a$$ Fran.

I wouldn't call 3% increases very healthy and certainly not keeping up with inflation!!!
