Collaboration in the office

Of course, collaboration is important, but I don't think that collaboration is much better when people are sitting tired and frustrated in the office.
What is the collaboration like on your team when you are in the office?
I don't notice any better collaboration than when we work from home. Moreover, I don't even know how I could ignore all those distractions in the office before the pandemic.

Zero collaboration in the office other than the same zoom calls that I take when WFH. The office clearly has a “leave me alone” vibe now. Earbuds in and people knocking out work to wrap up and leave… many decline any lunch, event and town hall invites - understandably.

Leaders keep announcing on-site visits.. PLEASE DONT. We aren’t interested in 509 people being crammed into a room to hear BS, get donuts that 43 people ahead of us breathed on.. and don’t forget it’s hurricane season, so please don’t waste company money on canceled flights where you still benefit from airline points for personal use.

Every single person on my team is in a different city. Making us each drive an hour to 'collaborate' via phone and webex just p*sses everyone off. Mgt is like the bully of the playground. They punch you because they can. No other reason makes sense. They want us to spend money at Starbucks and the corner hot dog cart at the expense of the local market where I buy when I WFH. In other words, they are choosing who they want to fail, at our expense, in the name of collaboration. I challenge anyone in Charlotte to refute this.

No one I work with on a daily basis is in my office so my so called collaboration is virtual anyway. There are members of the larger org there but no one works together or talks and people are hardly there anyway.

Improved collaboration and idea sharing when we are all together vs video.

My team is dispersed all over the world. No one in my location.

Those in the same location still attend meetings via phone when a meeting room option is given.

How is meeting face to face any different than meeting on zoom? I'd like to insist that I can't collaborate with anyone who isn't in the room, bet that would go over well. Somehow I managed to train people thousands of miles away and that was fine when it suited them.

I’m starting to think they are laughing at us who actually sit in the office…

No collaboration for me. We have at most 7 people in the office at a time. We are all too busy to collaborate. We are busy working most of us have earbuds or headphones on. I get more work done at home than at work.
